Working Out Not Working Out? Read This

28/01/2017 by Adam

There’s nothing more important in this world than taking care of your body. Regular exercise is the key to both looking and feeling great. However, there’s nothing more frustrating than putting in all that effort only to see minimal results.

You’re now a month into your new year’s resolution, so you’ll be a little disappointed if it’s not working out. But that shouldn’t be an excuse to give up. You simply need to shake up your fitness plan to ensure that it’s tailored for success – for the long-term as well as the short.

Here’s where you could be going wrong, and what you can do to correct those easy mistakes.

Mix It Up

You did your research before starting and found this one routine that promised the world. I’m not suggesting that it won’t help you progress, but the human body is very quick to react. In addition to working all the muscle groups, you need to keep it guessing. Otherwise you will see limited results.

Gym-based workouts aren’t the only option. Playing sports is a great way to keep your fitness plans fresh and fun. Blend this with a combination of cardio and strength training, and you should see far more noticeable progress.

Apart from anything else, the variety and enjoyment will make working out feel less of a chore and more of a hobby. Once you’ve reached that level, any aesthetic improvements are a bonus.

Listen To Your Body

The body is a complex machine, but it will give you indications if something isn’t right. If you have suffered an injury, don’t be afraid to give your body suitable recovery. Likewise, supportive clothing and equipment can make a big difference to your comfort and performance.

You should already know that exercise is only half of the battle. Nutrition is equally important to your goals, but you mustn’t fall into the trap of starving yourself. Even if you’re looking to lose weight, your muscles need feeding to perform. In addition to clean foods, supplements like testofuel can spearhead performance to the next level.

Above all else, you should stay hydrated and ensure that you follow a healthy sleep pattern. The impact that those two elements will have on your life as a whole, including workouts, is huge.

Increase The Intensity

I have no doubt that you are working hard. The question you need to ask, however, is whether your workouts could be more effective. If you aren’t seeing the progress you crave, there’s a good chance that the answer is yes.

Take running as an example. A lot of people will do a 5-10km jog at a steady pace thinking that it will carve a killer body in no time. However, switching to a high intensity interval training plan will send calorie burns through the roof. To be honest, the changing pattern makes the exercise feel a little less monotonous too.

The same goes for weight training. If improvements can be made by employing a change of tactics, you’d be a fool to keep plodding along with your ineffective current plan.
