So this recipe is for the Tomato Sauce (not the tortellini which was delicious btw! – it was @asda extra special range and it goes so well with this sauce!) – it’s a straightforward sauce to make with plenty of flavour! Once everything is blitzed together it goes really well with pretty much any pasta! Enjoy!
[ RECIPE ] Homemade Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 Red Onion (chopped)
- Salt & Pepper
- 1 Garlic Clove (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar
- ½ teaspoon Chilli Flakes
- 1 tablespoon Dried Oregano
- 200ml Passata
- Handful of Cherry Tomatoes
- Pinch of Caster Sugar
Instructions
- Place a medium-sized saucepan on a medium-high heat with the olive oil. Once hot enough add the red onion and season with salt and pepper then cook for 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the garlic and fry for a further few minutes.
- Next add the red wine vinegar and cook out for a minute before adding the balsamic vinegar.
- Add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan, place the lid on and simmer gently for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the contents to a blender and leave to cool before blitzing to a smooth sauce.
