Recently I was sent out a number of samples for a relatively new Protein-based brand called Purition, who specialise in quality ingredients that are unprocessed, high in fibre, low in sugar and gluten free. Plus they provide enough protein to help meet your own personal development goals and aspirations.
My first thoughts were based around the list of “guidelines” that came with the sample box. They mentioned not to mix their protein with water as they don’t add cheap milk powders, gums, fillers or thickeners. I’d never really thought about that before when buying my own protein but it’s true, real food shouldn’t need to be dissolved, instead it’s blended to become smooth.
This gave me a lot of confidence in the product, knowing that they weren’t just like every other protein powder out there.
I was also impressed by the range of flavours that were on offer. I was sent the following:-
- Chocolate
- Coconut
- Pistachio
- Macadamia & Vanilla
- Almond
- Raw Vegan Hemp
I’ve never seen the majority of these flavourings on any type of protein product before. To me that showed they’d put a lot of thought into their products and not just rushed them through to market.
So I liked the fact that natural ingredients were being used, along with the variety of original flavourings but how did the products taste?
I followed the guidelines by adding milk along with the individual packet to a blender and drank immediately. The products tasted great. To me that’s a bonus because as long as the protein’s not awful to swallow and does it’s job, that’s the overriding priority!
My only concern was because natural ingredients were being used, they had to be blended and drank right away, making it perfect for a Breakfast-type of protein drink to help you get started in the morning, but not so much for straight after a gym session.
Usually I make up a protein drink, add it to my gym bag and drink it about an hour or so later straight after the session has finished. I couldn’t do that with this type of product because it would completely separate from the milk and go quite lumpy.
Although if you can wait until you get home from the gym and blend the purition ingredients, it will be well worth the wait.
Overall I was excited to try this type of natural-protein without anything artificially added. The fact that they’d really thought about their flavours, along with adding some guidelines to the packaging, allowed this protein-based product to stand out from an ever-increasing market. They are well-worth trying out.
