Five Ways to Stay Hydrated Without Water

31/10/2019 by Adam

Water makes up almost 60% of your body and is vital for most bodily functions. You lose large volumes of water daily and these liquids need to be replaced. A lack of water can quickly lead to dehydration which can cause several serious health conditions including heatstroke, kidney problems, and seizures. For that reason, you must drink the recommended amount of water each day. However, water is not the only way to stay hydrated – here are five easy ways to boost your hydration levels without water:

1. Make healthy soups

Soup is a fantastic water-rich food that can help you stay hydrated. If you’re buying readymade soup, then opt for broth varieties. These contain a much higher water content and are also far less calorific than cream-based soups. The best option is to make your soup from scratch. Use a broth base and choose vegetables that contain high quantities of water – zucchinis, celery, and watercress are all good options. You can find plenty of healthy food recipes for better hydrationby searching online or reading cooking blogs.

2. Book IV hydration therapy

IV therapy is the latest craze that promises to deliver a serious boost in hydration levels intravenously. The treatment also provides a combination of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to restore patients to optimal health. Many people use IV therapy to treat various health concerns including migraines and the flu. If you’d like to learn more about IV hydration therapy, then resetiv.com offers lots of useful advice on the treatment and its benefits.

3. Eat more fruit

You can significantly boost your hydration levels by eating water-rich fruits. According toHealthline– “watermelon contains 92% water, strawberries contain 91% water, and peaches contain 89% water.” These fruits are healthy, nutritious, and will help keep you properly hydrated even if you’re not drinking enough water. Keep in mind that raw fruits and vegetables are far more hydrating as food loses large amounts of water when it’s cooked. You should therefore try and include raw food in your diet whenever possible.

4. Drink herbal teas

Drinking plain water can get boring, so try mixing up your drinks to ensure that you reach your daily fluid goal. Herbal teas come in an extensive range of different flavors and many offer various added health benefits. For instance, chamomile tea is known for its calming properties and can help treat sleep disorders, peppermint tea is thought to improve digestive health, and hibiscus tea has antibacterial properties that can treat viruses like the common cold and the flu.

5. Make your own popsicles

Popsicles are the perfect refreshing treat on a hot summer’s day. They can also be a great way to rehydrate and restore lost fluids. Many store-bought popsicles contain large amounts of sugar, but you can easily make your own healthy popsicles at home. Simply add some fruit slices and water to a mold and freeze for one hour or more. You can make your popsicles even more delicious by adding flavored water or milk instead of plain water.
