17/01/2017 by Adam

Most people would agree that eating the right foods and staying in shape is a top priority. We all want to look at good as possible and live to see old age however lots of folks struggle when it comes to implementing a routine.

With that in mind I wanted to highlight some activities that could ensure you don’t become overweight this year. At the end of the day, you just need to remain as active as possible. Sometimes you just need to think outside the box and find something you enjoy. You might have to spend some cash but there are plenty of free methods you could use so let’s take a look at just a few of the ways in which you can keep your body healthy.

Buy a local gym membership

Visiting your local gym is perhaps one of the most common ways to keep your body in shape. There are pros and cons to that concept, and so you need to consider all the ins and outs. Firstly, you’ll have to pay a monthly subscription fee in most instances. Secondly, you’ll have to work out with lots of other people watching. However, there are some plus points too. For example, you get access to the best fitness equipment without paying a fortune. If you wanted to purchase all those machines and devices, you would have to spend thousands. So, if you don’t mind being on public display, gym memberships could make sense. You just need to make sure you attend at least a couple of times each week. Otherwise, you’re wasting your money.

Start jogging the streets

Jogging around the streets in your local area is a fantastic way to stay healthy. So long as you don’t have any joint conditions like arthritis, you should be okay. All you need is the right footwear and something to keep your body warm. Best of all? It doesn’t cost a dime, and you can perform the exercise as often as you like. Maybe you choose to go out for half an hour when you arrive home from work? Perhaps you decide to do the same thing in the morning before you leave?

Either way, jogging or running will help to build lots of different muscles. It will also improve your heart and limit the chances of you developing any issues. Just make sure you consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

Build a gym at home

Building a gym at home is going to cost more than a monthly subscription. Even so, there are many advantages to using that idea. For instance, you can use the equipment whenever you have a few minutes spare. That means you reduce travel times, and get straight down to business. You just need to look online for the most suitable fitness products.

At the very least you’re going to need a treadmill and some weights. However, most people will go further than that and purchase power and squat racks. Thankfully, it’s easy to find information about the best power racks and squat racks if you’re tech-savvy. There are lots of websites and blogs that offer everything you need to know. Just perform some research, and you can’t go wrong.

Join a local sports team

Sports offer an excellent opportunity to get fit and stay active. They are often social exercises, and so you might even make a few friends along the way. Just choose your favorite sport, and then search online for teams in your hometown. In most instances, you just need to get in touch and show an interest. Perhaps you like the idea of playing basketball for a couple of hours each night? Maybe you love the UK and want to become the next big soccer player? Regardless of your personal interests, you are guaranteed to find something suitable. Best of all? Most sports trainers won’t charge the earth for training sessions. So, you can get out of the house and stay active for next to nothing.

Become a personal trainer

As I mentioned at the start of this page, sometimes you have to think outside of the box. Changing your career to become a personal trainer can seem like a big step. However, it’s perfect if you have the right skills and knowledge. Before becoming a sports trainer, sports performance and fitness professionals requires the NASM Performance Enhancement Specialization (NASM-PES) certification, as this will allow them to work with clients on any level.
In nearly all circumstances, you will assist clients in achieving their fitness goals, trainers can guide you to your goals and this is why it’s a great job to do and to actually have a personal trainer of your own. That guiding will be a huge benefit to you when working out, and then you also can be that guidance to someone who is in need, a win-win situation. That means you might have to plan their routines, design their meals, and offer advice. It’s a brilliant way to earn a living that will make your friends jealous. Of course, it also means you’ll stay active all day long helping others. So, your fitness levels should improve, and you’ll get paid to work out. How much you earn will depend on the number of clients you service. That’s why you’ll have to aim for at least five or six every day.

Exercise for charity

There are hundreds of different charity events involving running every single year. If you’re not used to exercising, they could give you some motivation. Sign up to something that’s happening in a few months time. That way, you have ample preparation opportunities. Once you’ve signed up, you won’t want to back out. That means you should find the will to get out there and improve your fitness. With a bit of luck, you’ll complete that 10k course and raise a lot of money for charity in the process. You’ll feel good about yourself for helping others, but you’ll also achieve your fitness goals.

There you have it. You should now have enough ideas to make a start. No matter how you decide to get fit this year, it’s vital you congratulate yourself. Most people spend their free time lounging around in front of the TV watching movies. While that’s a fun way to stay occupied, it won’t help anyone to keep their bodies in shape. With that in mind, you should select one of my suggestions and put it into practice. You are guaranteed to notice a positive improvement in only a couple of weeks. That should be enough to give you motivate to continue.
