How Busy Bees Avoid The Sweet Treat

We are so busy now that the notion of eating healthy is more difficult than ever. Even the healthiest among us can easily be tempted by fast food after a long 13 hour day at a job, and for those that work in an office, how are you rewarded for a good job? With pizza and cake! Fatty and sugary foods that will make you feel sluggish by 2.30 in the afternoon. And while there are many offices that have health foods readily available, they never prove more popular than a sugary treat that gives an instant hit. So it’s down to you to get yourself healthy with a busy lifestyle!

The first thing to do is always have healthy snacks available. The slumps in energy you get will make you reach for the coke machine. Instead, have a pack of almonds or brazil nuts handy in your drawer so you can reach for them when you are feeling the cravings. Nuts are full of protein to make you feel full and have zinc and selenium in varying proportions. A handful of nuts should be enough to curb hunger until you get to mealtime!

The same goes for fruit. Either have some dried fruit like figs handy or throw an apple into your bag before you leave the house in the morning. The healthy sugar hit will give you the energy you need. There are people who aren’t so keen on fruit. A way around this is to make smoothies. Blending up a lot of fruit or vegetables the night before is a great way to get more into your diet. You can learn how to make a perfect smoothie but whatever you fancy, throw it in, and blend it up! As you get more creative, you will find the right recipes for you. People make green smoothies with avocados, celery, and limes to give it a zest!

Preparation is the main thing when it comes to getting healthy with a busy lifestyle. A lot of people speak about not having time to do it. But with the readily available pre-packaged salads and, it takes a few minutes to prepare. The trick is more about getting into the habit of preparing your meals for the next day. It takes 3 weeks for a habit to become permanent, and by doing a salad the night before, you can grab it from the fridge on your way out of the door.

This includes breakfast. A lot of people skip breakfast, but it is the most important meal of the day. Eating a breakfast full of nutrients and carbohydrates will keep your energy up until lunchtime, and you can prepare a breakfast pot to eat before you go to work or eat while you’re on the train. Just get some Greek yogurt, sprinkle with chia seeds or a handful of chopped nuts for extra protein, mix it with some oats and blueberries and enjoy with your breakfast smoothie, so you have a tasty and filling meal to set you up for the day.
