I’ve always been a fan of fresh berries. In fact my go-to breakfast or ‘any time of day snack’ has to be porridge with peanut butter, topped with fresh berries! So when the team at Love Fresh Berries got in touch to help encourage others to feel the same, I jumped at the chance!
After all there’s many people out there that think berries only go on top of cereal, or that they’re packed full of added sugar and actually not good for you. These are just myths!
This is what nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert had to say about fresh berries:
You may wrongly think fruit sugar is added sugar. It’s not added, it was always in the fruit!
Fruit is full of fibre, vitamins, minerals and water. It also has a significant chewing resistance, which means fruits can take a while to eat and can help you feel fuller. What’s more, fruit tends to be high in several vitamins and minerals that many people don’t get enough of, including vitamin C, potassium and folate. Rhitrition is encouraging everyone to eat whole fruits every day – they make brilliant snacks in between meals and with a little imagination, they make absolutely delicious healthy recipes too!
Rhitrition created 4 incredible recipes that all incorporate fresh berries in different ways. Even I was surprised at just how versatile berries could be!
The two recipes that I tried were:
- Blackberry Tacos
- Strawberry Quinoa Salad
Both of which were delicious, took hardly any time to make, and all of the ingredients were readily available. It just goes to show that eating healthy is the way forward. Cutting out on carbs or calories, or going on these fad diets that may see the initial result you want, but are almost impossible to sustain really aren’t worth your time and effort.
Before I started blogging back in 2012, I was eating whatever I wanted. Burgers, chips, anything fried, anything I fancied really. My goal was to cut anything bad out of my life and just eat the healthy fruits, berries, salads etc. Before long my tastebuds reappeared and I was becoming healthier. I also had more energy and my friends and family really noticed the changes in me. I also learned to cook and make the right decisions whilst out shopping, and I never looked back.
These recipes certainly compliment that lifestyle of eating right and staying clear of those fad diets, so please try them out for yourself!
