Rock Your Resolutions – A 5 Step Plan to Help You Smash Your New Year’s Fitness Goals

04/02/2020 by Adam

This year is going to be my year. That’s what we all say. We go into the new year with big dreams, even bigger aspirations, and a desire to get rich, get fit, get healthy, and get better. It doesn’t always go to plan, and instead of thinking smaller, we scrap the idea altogether. What if it were as simple as creating a five-step plan? Work on those fitness goals in bite-sized pieces, and here’s how to break it down:

Make Use of the Experts

You don’t decide one day that you’re going to get fit, and then it magically happens. You also don’t all of a sudden gain all this new knowledge overnight without expert help. So, why not call in the experts? A quick trip to a personal training studio can see you face-to-face with a nutrition and fitness expert who can show you where and how to begin. A fitness trainer can also make you accountable for your actions if you usually lack the motivation to succeed.

Find Your Motivation

It’s okay to announce that you are going to get fit and healthy, but do you know why? What or who is your motivation to smash out those new year goals? Is it your desire to have a family like billions of others? Do you want to be able to run at the park with your kids? Or, is your health suffering, and you need a complete reboot? Find your motivation, for, without it, you’ll find it harder to stay on track.

Work on Your Eating

We should be consuming no more than nine teaspoons of sugar per day, but the average American has over double. Evaluate your eating habits and find out if there is room for improvement. If you love a sweet snack in the afternoon, then consider healthier options such as berries. If ice cream hits the spot after dinner, then opt for a low-sugar alternative, or snack on fruit instead. Adapt your eating habits, and your fitness ones will follow.

Establish a Routine

Establishing a routine can be instrumental in being successful in your new year’s goal of health and fitness. Set a dedicated time slot out of your day for exercise and work everything else around it. For example, you may decide to get out of bed an hour earlier each morning to fit in a few laps at the pool or a jog around the block. With a routine in place, exercise can become something you enjoy.

Evaluate and Adapt

Once you have followed the careful guidance of a fitness trainer and started on your journey to a healthier you, it’s time to evaluate your progress. Do you feel better? Could you do better? Think about the changes you have made and whether they have benefited your life. Have you formed a healthy new habit yet?

At this point, you can also start to fine-tune your exercise routines, such as weight training and toning of muscle groups. A fitness expert can help with this process as well as pushing you to the next level.

Thousands of people around the world set New Year’s resolutions to start January off with a bang, but almost as many fail to stick with them. Will you be one of the few that succeed? Whether you want to lose weight or feel fit and healthy, these five steps can provide the perfect starting platform to achieve your goals. There’s no better time to start than now.
