5 Simple Smoothie Recipes: The Delicious Way to Detox

26/03/2017 by Adam

Make it at home smoothies that would cleanse your body. Blend it now!

I guess I am a new person. Just weeks ago, I did not believe in Detox, and besides, I thought they are bitter mixes that would taste bad and will be forced on me just to follow a diet plan. But then, when I see good results, I feel motivated. I have been finding ways to lose these humiliating fats in the easiest possible way. Yep, exercise is not easy for me, alright? Smoothies though, they are deliciously different. And I was prepared and determined to survive it!

I was a beginner, (although I did not understand why do I need to be a beginner in taking in smoothies) so they gave me this five blends to start into. There were no turning back guys, I announced to the group that I will lose these kilos in no time. Plus, there is a plane ticket award waiting for me if I make it.

The first 2 weeks was my adjustment period. I had to adjust to the taste and the color of the smoothie (sometimes it looks gross). I started with two cups per day. Later on, I began to like it and following the schedule is like a routine already. Here are the mixes that I intend to share with you, and I promise you, it worked! I just got home from a vacation trip. Hah!

  1. Tropical Mix

1 ripe avocado (remove the peel and pit out)

1 ripe banana, frozen (remove the peel, I had “lakatan” medium size)

1 rib of celery

¼ cucumber (peeled, if organic no need to peel, but they are expensive)

1 cup fresh pineapple (frozen will do)

A handful of parsley (just small)

½ inch piece of ginger

1-2 cups coconut water (fresh)

  1. Yummy Green (I can’t get rid of the spinach, but turned out yum yum)

1 ripe avocado (remove the peel and pit out)

1 ripe banana, frozen (remove the peel, I had “lakatan” medium size)

1 orange (remove the peel and seeds)

½ cup of spinach

1 ½ cups of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

  1. Summer Mix

1 cup fresh pineapple (frozen will do)

1 ripe banana, frozen (remove the peel, I had “lakatan” medium size)

1 Inch piece of ginger

1 cup spinach

1 cup fresh coconut water (plain water will do)

4.  Super Fruit Mix

2 cups of spinach

1 ripe banana, frozen (remove the peel, I had “lakatan” medium size)

¾ cups mix frozen berries

¼ cups of raw nuts or seeds (your choice, you can combine both)

1/2 cup fresh coconut water (plain water will do)

5. Perfect Combination

1 peeled kiwi

¾ cup of fresh strawberries (frozen is fine)

½ cup fresh pine-apple (frozen is fine)

½ cup lemon (peeled and seeds removed)

2 cups of spinach

1 ½ cups of fresh coconut water (plain water will do)

Some notes to remember:

  • Try to use organic fruits and vegetables if possible.
  • To make my smoothie tasty, I put a sweetener, either Grade B Maple syrup or raw agave nectar.
  • On top of the sweetener, you can add few ice cubes as well (it helps).
  • Use a high power blender, blend everything until you reach the texture desired.

How to make these smoothies? Here are tips:

  • Do not put everything inside the blender one time. It will taste yucky! Better put more fruit ratio than green leaves, like 60% – 40%.
  • To make it smooth, (I tell you, chewing green smoothies feels like I could throw up!) blend the liquid and green leaves first before adding the fruits and blend again.
  • I put ice cubes in mine, but freezing them all is better (extra chilly). Don’t defrost green leaves, just put them right straight to your blender. They are so fragile!

What do these smoothies get to do with detox?

This was my first question I asked when the program was introduced to me. Eventually, I have learned that green veggies have this chlorophyll mix and a high level of fiber to keep our body stable. The chlorophyll boosts the release of toxins that you have been hoarding in for so long. It is just like your cells has been through an earthquake shake! Fruits and berries too are natural nourishment and supplement for vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants.

I was proud to say that it really satisfied my expectations. I lost 8 kilos in 2 months (I don’t care if that is way too long for some of you), and I am happy, I feel light and energetic. The people who helped me made this possible proved themselves right. When you decide to Detox yourself with these DIY and awesome smoothies, do not compare yourself to others’ progress. We have different lives so the process will vary. Just set your mind on it and avoid a lot of stress.

It was never an ordeal. It was fun, surprising and inspiring. Choose your mix now! If you want to ask questions or share a comment, do it here, anytime.
