What to Do When Your Weight Loss Plateaus

A weight-loss plateau can often come out of nowhere. You think you are making excellent progress, and then suddenly, you don’t see the same results you’re used to. As positive as you felt about your journey, this can throw a spanner in the works and make you wonder if your hard work was even worth it. Dear not, though, because you can get over this plateau and continue to see the healthy changes you have always wanted, you may just need to make some adjustments to your routine and lifestyle.

Focus On Quality Food

Quality over quantity is always true when looking at weight loss. Eating less doesn’t always help you lose weight, especially if the foods you do eat are low-quality and processed. You need whole foods, such as vegetables and beans, or fruit high in fiber. Lean protein meats should also be on the menu, and it should be easy enough to replace these items with your usual diet. You should stop falling into temptation when you see meal deals and fast food, as this is not doing your journey any favors, and could even cause you to regress.

Adjust Your Routine

While you may have felt exhausted at the end of every session when you first started exercising, your body and conditioning have become used to the activity. Now, you could run 5K in your sleep or lift 15-pound weights with ease. While this conditioning can keep you in good shape, it won’t help you lose more weight. You can change this by adjusting your exercise intensity and pushing yourself harder. It will hurt at first, and you’re bound to feel some aches the next day, but it will be worth it.

Boost Muscle Mass

Increasing your muscle mass will allow you to burn more calories even while you’re resting, and it can bring exceptional benefits for the body and the mind. If you’ve previously only focused on cardio, this could be the answer you have been looking for, so look for effective strength training programs that will gradually add mass so you can burn more fat throughout the day, even if you’re not doing anything.

Ask An Expert Where to Improve

Sometimes, you can try everything you can think of and still not see the results you crave. If this is the case, it could be a sign of a medical condition that can hinder your progress. You can consider a treatment like a gastric sleeve revision from the leading experts that could provide exceptional benefits for your weight loss journey. If you combine this approach with your regular routine, you’ll find that it is easier to achieve your goals, and you don’t need to worry about plateauing any longer.

Rising

Weight loss plateaus are never pleasant, and it can feel like you will never get back to the top-notch performance and progress you experienced before. You shouldn’t take this plateau as a sign that you are finished. Instead, use it as motivation to push yourself harder to achieve your weight loss goals.
