Why you should Burn Fat and not Sugar

01/08/2018 by Adam

When you burn calories to shed weight, you are either burning sugar or burning fat. Unfortunately, most people are sugar burners and not fat burners. If you are among the sugar burners, here are some of the reasons to do all you can to switch to fat burning mod using fat burning supplements.

Production of free radicals
The biggest problem with burning of sugar is that it produces a lot of free radicals and these free radicals are responsible for a lot of diseases, bone stiffness, quick aging, and premature death. Sugar burns very fast and also produces a lot of wasted energy that would have been used up by muscles.

The body is designed to burn sugar temporarily
Most of the body cells are designed to burn sugar only temporarily for exigency. The cells are meant to burn fat as fuel. This is why the body does not store sugar in large quantity. Rather, it stores fat. The body stores only an amount of sugar that will last for 30 to 40 minutes and it stores it in the form of glycogen. If the body is in the sugar burning mode, there will be a big problem when you are asleep and more sugar isn’t coming in. Once it uses up the little amount of glycogen that has been stored, it will begin to break down your bone and muscle tissue to make sugar that will be burnt for energy. This will lead to bone loss and muscle loss. It is needless to remind you that the reaction will lay the foundation for aging and osteoporosis.

Glycation Damage
Being consistently in the sugar burning mode will raise the sugar level in the blood and this leads to Glycation damage. Glycation is simply the alteration of the proteins in the body.

On the other hand, here is what happens when you burn fat and not sugar. Huge energy is produced from the amount of fat burnt. Remember, the body stores a large amount of fat, so burning fat for energy means your body will never lack energy. Secondly, the amount of free radicals released when fat is burnt is much less than the amount released with burning of sugar. Fat can come from the food consumed and when you are asleep, your body will get fat from the stored fat. Since the body can get energy by burning fat while you sleep, there won’t be any loss of bone density or muscle tone. For these reasons, fat burning is much better for the body.

To switch your body to fat burning mode permanently, you need to consider the keto diet explained here. To simplify it, keto diet involves the consumption of low carbs, moderate proteins, and high fats. Keto diet consists of 10 percent carbs, 20 percent proteins, and 70 percent fats.

When your consumption of carbs is low, you will force your body to look for another source of energy and so it will enter a metabolic state known as ketosis during which ketones are produced from the breakdown of fat in your liver.

While working out, you can also burn fat by going at a constant pace that is best for you. You should be able to work out for more than 40 minutes. You know why? The body only stores glycogen to last for about 30 to 40 minutes so even if you are burning sugar during work out, you would have burnt it out in the first 40 minutes. Whatever you do after 40 minutes, you will be burning fat.
