The Best Active Vacation Ideas to Keep You Fit

28/09/2019 by Adam

Everyone loves a vacation, and most people try to incorporate one regularly into their yearly schedules. With that in mind, if you’re on a personal fitness journey or you’re looking to change up your next getaway plan, why not consider a more physical trip away?

Why Plan an Active Vacation?

High activity vacations are amazing experiences, as they allow you to fulfill activities you wouldn’t necessarily do back home. Not only that, but you’ll be getting plenty of fresh air and exercise in a fun and rewarding way. Plus, with being on vacation, you’re not likely to resent any physical activity you do, meaning this time away is the perfect opportunity to get in as much exercise as you can and reenergize yourself.

Try Skiing or Snowboarding

Perhaps this is something you’ve always wanted to do, or you’re already trained but you don’t have adequate opportunities in your home country. Either way, hitting the slopes is a great way to get exercise, allowing those muscles to do the work while taking in some breathtaking scenery and fresh air at the same time. Why not try for a winter sports resort, or simply have this experience as part of your overall trip? Destinations like Canada and New Zealand offer fantastic skiing and snowboarding experiences in the winter, and with Alltracks snowboard courses, you can tailor your experience, build your confidence and even train to teach the skill yourself.

Take a Walking Getaway

You might usually walk a lot during your vacations anyway, but if you have hiking as your sole purpose for your trip, you can truly get the best out of it. Many countries have amazing trekking routes which you can plan personally or with a tour guide. Or, consider going on your own personal journey and plan to hike from one point of a country to another in a certain time frame as a challenge for yourself. With any walking getaway, ensure you plan properly and have the right gear.

Hit a Scuba Diving Spot

If being close to the water is more your scene, take it one step further than hitting the beach or laying by the pool, and consider some water sports. Scuba diving is an incredible experience which will allow you to explore hidden depths while getting a great deal of exercise in the process. If you don’t fancy scuba diving, you have the option to snorkel instead. Or, you could consider other water sports like surfing – anything which allows you to move around a lot and get that body moving.

Take a City Break

While not as obviously active as the previous suggestions, walking around a city all day is physically demanding – which is great for your fitness. Taking in the sights in a city means you’ll be constantly on your feet and moving around instead of lounging in one place. To make it more interesting, consider exploring more than one city and traveling between them to get in more steps (and see more sights).
