@Home Workouts: Leg Curl

02/11/2014 by Adam

Today’s exercise is all about strengthening your pelvic area and making the most out of your Gym Ball. Some of you may be feeling a little unsure as to what exercises you can complete with this excellent piece of equipment, aside from basic crunches and may even be wondering whether it was purchasing in the first place?

If this is you, don’t worry, we’ve all been there at some time or another, buying something that seems like such a good idea at the time for it to quickly become unused and gathering dust. These next few posts will show you just how much you can gain from using your gym ball and how much it can benefit your body.

Today we look at the Leg Curl, using the Gym Ball as a source of balance. The exercise will help your balance by stabilising your core muscles, pelvic region and tightening your buttocks (always a plus!).

Start by lying flat on your back with your feet resting on the gym ball, slightly apart.

Without moving the gym ball and allowing it to roll, lift your pelvic region off the ground into the air and tighten it.

Hold the position for a few seconds, whilst maintaining the position of the gym ball and using it for balance, then return to your original position.

Continue to repeat the movement and aim for 1 minute before stopping. At the end you should feel as though you’ve worked the region.
