Key Signs You May Need Rehab For A Drug and Alcohol Addiction

03/04/2018 by Adam

Many people start using alcohol or illegal drugs because of several factors. Some go for these substances due to peer influences, an attempt to deal with life stressors and even for other maladaptive intentions. As you continue to fill your system with these substances on a regular basis, you potentially put yourself at risk for drug and alcohol addiction. However, the good thing is there can be some indicators that can help you determine whether or not you’re suffering from addiction. If you think that you are addicted to alcohol then you should try and seek help. There are many ways that you can do this, however, a lot of people find that going to a rehabilitation place is the most effective thing to help them with their addiction. No wonder why rehab treatment centers such as Pacific Ridge exist. With the right sort of guidance, hopefully you’ll be able to get your life back on track and back to your normal self again.

If this is something that you are thinking of doing, then there are loads of places that you can go to. For example, you could check out the Avante Institute, as they can guide you when it comes to your alcohol addiction. If you notice that you’re more likely addicted to drugs or alcohol, here are the key signs to watch out for.

  1. Taking or drinking drugs seems to be out of your control.

Addiction happens when you begin to try one pill or one drink, but you end up wanting more. Even if you promise that you’ll not drink or take any illicit drugs, it seems that you’re not able to control these cravings. With so many attempts to stop, nothing has been successfully done. You always have this intense urge for taking or drinking especially when your addiction develops over time.

  1. You begin neglecting your job.

If your employment has been at stake because of drug and alcohol addiction, it may be about time that you seek professional help. Remember that losing your job due to drug or alcohol use being out of control is no use at all. You’ll only suffer severe consequences for failing your employment. Quite often, employers will screen prospective employees using a pre employment drug test so it’s imperative that you do not allow addiction to affect your chances of sustaining a good career.

  1. You experience health problems caused by addiction.

An excessive amount of alcohol or illicit drugs is truly harmful to your body. For instance, your addiction may increase your risks of acquiring deadly diseases like cardiovascular problems, heart failures, and even brain damage. When these substances have severe effects on your health, it can be a sign that you’re not doing well, thereby seeking for a treatment facility is an excellent idea.

  1. You pull away from your family and friends.

Alcohol and drug addiction can destroy relationships. Most of the time, people addicted to these harmful substances neglect those close to them. If you’ve been an addict for quite some time now, you may find yourself in the position that you’re having problems dealing with your loved ones. When they start avoiding you on several occasions and telling you to stop using alcohol or drugs, then you should take these as signs that you may need treatment as soon as possible.

  1. You go on withdrawal.

Withdrawal from addiction is not easy. While you try to stop the addiction by yourself, it’s best if you don’t do it alone as it can be dangerous to your health. There are medications that treat addiction but they can only be given by medical professionals. Some of the common effects of withdrawal include heart attacks, seizures, and respiratory issues. Once these things happen, don’t hesitate to call for medical supervision to avoid injury or death.

  1. Your life revolves around using drugs or alcohol.

When you’re an addict, the activities that you usually do are no longer pleasurable for you. You start living a life where you wake up and only think about using drugs or drinking alcohol. It appears that nothing else except drugs or alcohol matters.

By considering these essential signs for drug and alcohol addiction, we hope you find this article useful for your own situation. If you think you display any or all of these signs, you may consider seeking help from a reliable drug recovery center near you or try to talk with an online suboxone doctor. Get in touch with a facility and learn more about your treatment options. That way, you’ll be able to know how you should lead your way toward full recovery.

You have effectively shown the symptoms of addiction and it is very helpful for most of the people out there. However, most of the times, the addict doesn’t realize about his/her addiction. Surely, the people around them can identify the signs of addiction. Thank you for sharing this.
