It’s Time to Quit College-Student Lifestyle and Here’s How You Can Do That

The good old college days, the time when almost everyone is struggling academically, financially and emotionally. Everything is falling apart and yet coming together. For most students, meals consist of instant noodles, crisps and of course alcohol consumption to the point of poisoning yourself. 

While college is one of the most memorable times of a person’s life, the lifestyle most students lead is anything but sustainable. In college, you are a youngling with the gusto to pull off all-nighters and survive on meals without a hint of nutritional value. 

As you are moving from being a young adult to full-blown adulthood, it’s essential for you to make changes to your lifestyle as well. The fun doesn’t have to stop when college ends but your mental and physical wellbeing should become a priority.

Here’s how you can transform your lifestyle for the better:

Reintroduce vegetables, seriously!

Whether it was perpetually broke-ness or sheer convenience, instant foods must have become a part of your staple diet. There’s no guardian at college to prepare and force-feed greens to you.

Now that you’re out of college, it’s time to put your health back on track. It’s important to grow out of being a picky eater and actually introduce vegetables in your diet. Trust us, you’ll have so much more energy every day.

Give cooking a shot

We understand that you’re fresh out of college, hustling to make it in the big world and making your own meals might not be feasible for you. But if you try, you can make time to cook a couple of meals every week. By doing this you can enjoy a healthy home-cooked meal while saving money as well. 

Also, attempt to perfect a couple of signature dishes that you can cook for guests or bring to a potluck. Adulting comes with sit down dinners that are a long way from beer-bong equipped frat parties. Make sure you are prepared for it.

Join a fitness class

Work on mental health

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. A number of things could be stressing you out, which makes it all the more important to practise mindfulness. Whether this means learning meditation or indulging in self-care, find what works best for you.

Try new hobbies

Adulting doesn’t have to suck out all the fun from your life. Yes, paying bills is such a drag but you have the liberty to build a life you love. So cultivate hobbies that improve your skills, expose yourself to new cultures and don’t hesitate to take on an adventure.

Focus on your finances

If you’re starting a new job, it might be tempting to exercise your freedom to purchase anything you desire. As you know, getting a college education is an expensive affair. Unless you were lucky enough to have a trust fund to pay for it, you’re likely to be in debt. Now is the time to work toward repaying this debt as quickly as possible. So, get your finances in order.
