If you have a busy career, a dependentfamily, or an activesocial life, it might be difficult to make time for self-care. However, this is the key to a long, healthy, and happy life. It is crucial to make time for your health, oryou’ll be forced to pay the price for your lack of care as you age.

Live to a great age by looking for ways to safeguard your physical and mental health. Find out how to care for your mind and body every day.

Increase Your Brain Power

Brain challenges, such as puzzles, mazes, and crosswords, will target both the right and left side of the brain, which can reportedly increase a person’s brain power. The activities are connectedto cognitive decline, so it’s worth taking 10 minutes each day to challenge your mind, which could potentially lower your risk of dementia.

Consume Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids can reportedly counteract amyloid proteins, which can damage the brain’s neurons. Keep your brainhealthy by consuming at least two servings of salmon per week, and you should also fill up on foods rich in antioxidants, such as leafy greens, blueberries, and almonds.

Protect Your Skin

The skin is the body’s largest organ, so you must take care of it. If you don’t, it could unfortunatelylead to the development of skin cancer, age spots, or wrinkles. For example, too much sun exposure can lead to a loss of elastin and collagen, which can cause changes in a person’s DNA, which can cause skin cancer.

That’s why you must apply a broad-spectrum sun cream (protects against UVA and UVB rays), which should be a minimum of SPF 30. Also, cover up in the sun as much as possible, and use a topical application of green tea with vitamin C and E, which can prevent free-radical damage.

Resolve a Health Problem

Many people are often too busy or embarrassed to visit a doctor about a potential health condition, so will allow the issue to grow each day. Instead of neglecting your health, you must confront the problem to find the appropriate solution.

For example, if you are living with an overactive bladder, don’t put it down to aging and book an appointment at Advanced Urology. A urologist could identify if you’re living with diabetes, a seriousurinary tract infection (UTI), bladder obstruction, or a neurological disorder.

Love Your Heart

Every food you eat or drink you consume could impact your heart’s health. For example, a diet that’s high in sodium can lead to high blood pressure, which is the leading cause of heart problems.

Love your heart by enjoying a diet that’s low in both salt and saturated fat, and eat plenty of fruits, vegetables andwhole grains. You can also strengthen your heart by enjoying thirty minutes of aerobic activity at least four times per week.

Increase Your Muscle Strength

If you live a sedentary lifestyle, you may lose muscle strength every decade after the age of 50 years old. If you want to keep your muscles strong as you grow older, you should enjoy a little more physical activity to increase your strength and flexibility.

For example, you can enjoy weight training, dance classes, tennis, yoga, or another activity that encourage you to move in different directions.

Build Bone Mass

Your body will stop storing calcium once you reach your thirties. As a result, you will need to make sure you get enough in your diet to avoid depleting your body’s calcium store. If you don’t, this can lead to brittle bones as you age, which can also be caused by a lack of exercise.

Build bone mass by enjoying more calcium in your diet. Greatsources of calciumcan include milk, cheese, soya beans, tofu, nuts, and green leafy vegetables. You should also enjoy exercise that requires you to perform a wide variety of movements, such as dancing.

Make Time for Relaxation

Stress and worry can lead to a negative mindset, which could lead to anxiety, depression, and even dementia. Don’t allow daily life to take its toll on your mind and body and make time for relaxation.

Do something that helps you to unwind every day, so you can soothe your mind and body, which could helpto create a more positive outlook on life. For example, enjoy some escapism with a good book, soothe your tired muscles in a hot bath, or grab an early night to relax both your mind and body.
