Here Is How BJJ Strengthens The Body Its Own Way

13/04/2020 by Adam

One of the prime reasons to join a martial art form, either it is BJJ, MMA, or any other martial art that is to protect themselves and their loved ones. Of course, there will be and are plenty of such situations when you have to do so and step up for yourself and the ones you love. There are many reasons why people join and practice martial arts like self-confidence, mental clarity, build better strength, improve mental and physical health among many others. Getting into a good physical shape and improving their physical health is another major reason and outcome of training martial arts. Because it helps you lose weight and fat dramatically. Not only that it also helps you retain that shape and get the muscles toned.

Each and every martial art is a little different from the other. So, they train your body a little different from others as they will be focused on different parts of the body. This does not mean they ignore other parts of the body or don’t make them strong. For instance, in Muay Thai your upper and lower torso is strengthened and you also improve your stamina and striking power. Similarly, in MMA you practice how to kick, punch and take the opponent down so strengthen your punches and kicks.

But if you are one of the people who are not very keen to learn the art of striking, punching and kicking others, then there is BJJ for you. BJJ is a relatively gentle art form because this is where you won’t have to punch or kick someone to protect or attack. Just like that, BJJ training keeps you away from violence and improves your mental and physical strength. This is why many people like it and prefer it for their children. There is no doubt that BJJ strengthens the mind and body as well as other martial art forms. If you are ready to train in BJJ GIs,then get your favorites from elite sports. Here great GIs for men’s, women’s, and kids are available.

Core Muscles/Hips

Developing the core and glute muscles is one of the main and direct focuses on BJJ training. Training jiu jitsu daily will develop and strengthen your glute and core muscles unlike any other workout and martial art class. This is needed and the focus off because when you will be in a match these muscles would be needed the most.

Core muscles help perform the body basic functions and daily like breathing, balancing the body, maintaining its stability when you do daily tasks like sitting, walking etc. similarly if you are aiming to improve your balance and stability while you are performing techniques even for other martial arts, then train BJJ well.

Specifically, a BJJ strong core and hips will help you be quick and better at guarding, escaping the guard and bringing the power and speed you wanted into your techniques. This can be a major winning factor for you. Such skills can be accomplished with time and training BJJ.

Lower Torso

When it comes to strengthening your lower body, people usually focus on either weight training or martial arts that focus on kicking. The common mistake is ignoring the BJJ because it does not focus on kicking. This approach is obviously not wrong, but you should also know that BJJ can strengthen your lower body exceptionally well too. The only difference is that it works in a different way to strengthen these.

The guard passes, knee mounts, and spins you would do in a BJJ drill training are leg focused. They put your lower body in different angles and require great strength to be performed well. So, these are not only making sure that your lower body strength and flexibility is improved but are also strengthening the hip muscles. Alongside your footwork is also being improved with the help of heavy bag, grappling, dummy, and sparring.

The positioning of knees and feet can give or take advantage from you. When you would have the advantage you can gain the offensive position. In an offensive position you are at advantage to perform different submissions while the person in the defense position is finding a way to guard themself against these submissions.

Upper Torso

The same goes for the upper body. Even though in BJJ one never punches others, BJJ strengthens the upper torso just like the rest. If you don’t believe it, then start the training, and you will notice that your biceps, triceps, and shoulders are strengthened. This is because you need to have strength in these muscles to perform takedowns, submissions, as well as sweeps, and transitions. To improve your grip and chocks, forearm muscles are strengthened.

Now this does not mean that BJJ does not include weight training. Deadlifts and pull-ups are the most common examples of weight training in BJJ. Now we can come to a conclusion that BJJ is a complete body workout and strengthens the body well enough. So if you are looking to improve your flexibility, stability, strength and more than get started with the training.
