These past few weeks I’ve been attending a number of extra gym classes, including ‘Abs’ and more ‘BodyTone’. Not only is it useful for my own personal journey in reaching my goals (some days are more progressive than others!) but it also gives me new ideas and inspiration to share with you guys.
Today’s exercise of the day works the obliques (just above your hip bones) and helps build those all important ‘v lines’ (or ‘willy arrows’ as I’ve heard them called!).
The first stage is to lie flat on a gym mat with your knees bent and arms out straight to the sides.
Then in a circular ninety degree motion, with your arms slightly bent, bring your fingers to your ankle on one side and try to reach as far towards your ankle as possible.
Do the same for the alternate side and continue with this movement for as long as possible without resting. You should feel a slight twinge in your side, which means the obliques are being worked.
I hope that you find these exercises useful. I’ll start bringing video into these exercises very soon, so stay tuned!
It’s important to keep going for as long as possible, then rest for 30 seconds and repeat. The pain you’re feeling should be your motivation to know that it’s working! Good luck.
