Fancy burning through calories as you chew? Believe it or not, this is much easier than it might sound. Indeed, there is a niche selection of foods that will actually help to increase your metabolism. Therefore, by educating ourselves about these food types, you will find that you’ll actually be able to eat much more and still burn body fat.
They include all sorts of foods that can be easily introduced into your diet, such as root ginger, tomatoes, flaxseeds, apple cider vinegar, berries, honey, eggs, olive oil and oats. Here are some more examples:
- Water
Plain and simple. Water is going to be your best friend if you’re looking to burn through stubborn body fat. Evidence suggests that drinking two glasses of cold water first thing in the morning can increase your metabolic rate by up to 30%.
- Salmon
Is one of the richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids. These healthy fats help prevent us from storing body fat and encourage our bodies to burn it as energy instead.
- Avocado
Which leads us nicely onto Avocados! In a similar way, these fleshy green fruits also aid our bodies to burn fat and are used readily as an energy source during exercise.
- Green Tea
Drinking green tea will not only increase your fluid intake, which is great for fat-burning efficiency, but also it also contains chemical compounds called catechins. These flavinoids help burn fat very effectively. Evidence suggests that drinking 2-3 cups a day can burn through 80 calories!
- Greek Yoghurt
Why not swap your daily yoghurt for Greek Yoghurt? This much healthier option is packed full of protein and has a significantly lower sugar content than many other yoghurts that we buy in the shops. It’s a fantastic breakfast option alongside granola and berries, however it can also be used in place of sour cream in savoury meals!
- Grapefruit
There is long-standing evidence that these delicious fruits help aid weight loss, however they rarely make it into our shopping baskets. Try drinking grapefruit juice in place of orange juice to kick-start your metabolism in the morning.
- Chillies
Chillies and hot spices both have thermogenic properties that help increase your metabolism. Hot peppers also contain a substance called capsaicin, which is proven to aid in weight loss. This means you don’t need to eat bland and boring food when trying to keep your diet in check!
- Peanut Butter
Perhaps the most appealing item on this list, peanut butter and almond butter contain healthy fats needed to maintain a healthy metabolic rate and thus, help you burn fat successfully!
- Broccoli
Eat your greens! Broccoli contains a whole heap of health benefits without providing any net carbs or calories. Therefore you will feel fuller for longer and cravings will be kept at bay.
- Spinach
Another green and leafy favourite, spinach acts in a similar way. Try adding a couple of handfuls to your fruit smoothie for an easy way to incorporate it into your diet – it contains a wealth of vitamins and minerals and you can’t even taste it!
