(GUEST) 10 Benefits of Weight-Training for Women

25/11/2016 by Adam

Generally, weight training for women is considered to be a bad idea for those that are looking to keep fit or lose some extra pounds.

This notion is incorrect as there are many benefits when a woman takes up weight training, and we have added the top 10 benefits below.

1.  A Healthier Heart

A recent study suggest that strength training has a huge effect in limiting cardiovascular disease risk factors in females, such as reducing bad cholesterol and actually increasing the good cholesterol in the trainer’s blood.

In the same report, it was suggested that weight training also helps to reduce blood pressure, and those that have had heart issues in past, decreased the risk of further complications when they started weight training.

2.  Strong bones

As women become older, they become susceptible to bone loss and osteoporosis.

Men can also suffer from the same issues as they age, but as their bones are normally harder than females, they do not experience it as much.

Weight training exercises have been known to slow the process of bone loss, and at the same time, increase the bone density throughout the body.

For the women that have been training with weights start to reach middle age, their bones are much tougher than those of the same age that haven’t been weight training, which lessens the risk of brittle bones as they reach the twilight years.

Essentially, women with strong bones have the ability to stay active, and the more active you are, the healthier you are.

3. Reducing Injury Risk

As advised in the strong bones section, weight training not only strengthens bones, but can also help reduce other types of injuries.

As the female body becomes stronger, functional ability is maintained, which significantly decreases the risk of injury.

There is also lots of evidence to suggest that weight training helps to limit back injuries, especially in the lower back area.

4.  Limits Chronic Conditions

Weight training is thought to help with the management of chronic body conditions such as, diabetes, back pains, heart disease, obesity, arthritis and even depression.

Remember to consult your doctor if you are suffering any of the above to ensure the best way to help your condition.

5.  Weight Management

Strength training or weight lifting helps to build body muscle, and muscle is more metabolically active than body fat tissue.

This means, you will burn more calories even when you are resting, essentially losing weight as you rest.

For best fat-loss results, weight training should be used with some cardio training; research shows that women lose more weight when combining both sets of exercises.

Another important factor to keep in mind is that fat does not weigh as much as muscle, therefore, if you weigh yourself, you might see an increase on the scales, so don’t let that dampen your spirits.

A digital Body fat analyzer can help you measure and track your own body fat percentage.

6.  Better Balance

It is proven that the women who have been weight training have improved balance, due to the overall stronger bodies.

The weight training prevents weaker muscle tone and in this sense prevents women from risk of falls and injuries caused by instability of the body.

7.  Improved Overall Performance

This is particularly valid for the women who are active and are regularly exercising their favorite sport.

Although, they are fit, the additional weight training will improve the overall performance in sports.

8.  Improved Energy

Weight training is a great way to boost your energy levels by optimizing your metabolism.

It helps blood circulation, you will soon forget about the coffee, and snacks that once helped you feel energized for a while.

Of course, if you are on your way to shave off some unnecessary pounds, you will need to give up on these treats anyway, but weight training will give just the energy you need, so that you can easily get rid of the bad habit.

9.  Look Great

Although, we have put this reason to take up on weight training towards the end of our list, it is one of the biggest motives for many women out there.

What a weight training does is to help you burn more bad fat and turn it into a muscle.

A cardio training alone can help you lose weight, but it is the weight training that will help you build muscle and get to show off with a rock solid six pack sooner than you expect.

10.  Fights Stress & Depression

We all know that any kind of sport activity releases endorphins in our bodies that help us fight stress, so why is weight training different?

Weight training makes you feel stronger as well, helps you reach your goals to a great look in bikini faster and it is not a secret that good-looking people are happier and more confident.
