Getting Kids Into Fitness

13/10/2016 by Adam

Health and fitness shouldn’t just be limited to adults anymore. Child obesity rates seem to be increasing every year. So it’s important to invest your money in children’s fitness trackers, courses and sports lessons in order to get kids into fitness from a young age. These are some of the great ways you can go about doing this.

Encourage

Kids thrive on encouragement, in fact, we all do. And that’s why it’s so good to come up with ways of encouraging the children to get into fitness. Statistics have shown that children in England are the least fit they’ve ever been. So, how are you going to help get them fitter? Health and exercise shouldn’t be something that’s just limited to adults. You have got to make sure you do as much as possible to motivate. Check out these wicked motivation tips you can use for yourself, and apply to the kids too.

Do it With Them

One of the best ways to get children involved in fitness is to do it with them. When kids are young, they like to feel included, and they enjoy doing things with their parents. So, by keeping fit together, you can almost make it like a family project. This could involve taking walks, going for runs and having bike rides. You might also decide to take them to the local park. It’s important that you do as much as possible to spend time with your kids before they get too old. And this is a really great way of doing that, and getting them healthier while you’re at it.

Rewards

There’s debate about how often reward systems should be used with children. But, they can be hugely effective when it comes to getting them interested in health and fitness. You can get together a selection of prizes, buy trophies online, or promise the kids a future reward. Any technique you can use to gain their interest and excitement is invaluable. And you don’t just have to make them exercise in rudimentary ways either. Sports are a great way of making sure kids are getting fit without them recognising they’re actually putting work into it. Try to implement an effective reward scheme based around whatever you choose, and you’ll see much better results.

Make it Fun

You may not know this, but only one in three children are physically active every day! This is too small a number, and it shows you how difficult it is to get kids interested. That’s why you need to do what you can to make the process as fun as possible. By engaging kids on a level they respond to you make it more fun and exciting for them, and it’s more likely they will do it. Fitness doesn’t have to be a drag, and by making it more fun, you will find the kids much more receptive.

Getting kids excited about health and fitness seems like an unattainable goal sometimes. Children generally don’t get excited about anything that’s seen as being work. And they spend so much time glued to their screens these days. So you have to be clever about it and do as much as you can to pique their interest.
