To celebrate Food&Fitness Always’ 150th post I thought I’d provide you with, what is in my opinion, a review of the greatest meringue-based biscuit in our time, the ‘Macaron’. Even more specifically, the company that produces them to an exceptionally high standard, ‘Ganache Macaron’.
Ganache Macaron is an artisan macaron bakery which are based in the heart of East London. They have been in business now for over 4 years making great tasting macarons.
As part of teaming up with the company I was sent a sample of their macarons with the following flavours: Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Pistachio, Raspberry & Blood Orange.
My first thoughts were how well the macarons were packaged. Due to their very delicate texture this is required to avoid any damage during transit. The fact that they’d taken such care protecting their macarons shows just how much they actually care about the quality of the product, from start to finish.
My first experience with macarons came back in December last year during my holiday in Brussels, the heart of the confectionary world in my opinion. So there were certainly big expectations to be fulfilled.
I was certainly not disappointed though, on the contrary, it was like being transported back to Brussels with the intense flavour of each individual macaron. One thing that struck me was just how much flavour they managed to pack into each of them. With a lot of products out there we’re told they have certain flavours and end up falling far short of the actual realness but not in this case.
The Blood Orange tasted like Blood Orange, the Salted Caramel was easily identifiable and so were the other flavours. If you were to do a blind-taste testing you could probably guess each one, including the Pistachio!
Ganache Macaron is run by it’s directors who have a real passion for good food and quality and I think that’s why these macarons are to such a high standard. They’re not just produced to fill a gap in the market, because when you’re enjoying one you can just tell how much effort has gone into making them.
All of their macarons are gluten free and are suitable for vegetarians, therefore they appeal to the majority of people. They use fresh ingredients whenever possible and never include any artificial flavours or preservatives in their macarons, something which is important from a health perspective.
Not only can you buy them as an every day snack and treat, they also make great gifts as Ganache Macaron offers you the option to personalise the macarons with logos, photos and text and even the opportunity to customise your own flavour!
Maybe I’ll order them for my wedding favours (one day!).
So if you’ve not tried a macaron and want to know just how delicate, light and flavoursome they really are, take a look at Ganache Macaron, you won’t be disappointed!
