Football’s Over, What Sport Next?

23/05/2017 by Adam

Football dominates the sporting calendar for most of us. From the pre-season to the regular season to the playoffs, we follow our team through it all, we find ways to get around media blackouts, and we find even more ways to hide our anger or boost our joy. If we aren’t managing our fantasy football teams, we’re watching the game, if we aren’t watching the game, we are reading about the next one. Football doesn’t just dominate the sporting calendar for many of us; it can dominate a few lives. You don’t have to be involved in the sport to live and breathe it. So many fans show their support by wearing the colors of their favorite team, they’ll don themselves from top to toe on game day in the hopes that they will win. Online merchandise stores like the geelong shop are crowded with football supporters ready to get their favorite team jersey or kit, to cheer their team on.

“But football ended in February with the Superbowl!” Of course, it did – for the fair weather fan! Everyone knows that right now is the end of the ‘true football season’. The NFL Draft has come and went, and that means nothing is really happening in football from now until the season kicks off. The NFL Draft is the last, or first big event of the past season or the coming season. I always have a big party when the Superbowl is on. My friends usually place a few bets using a Colorado Sports Betting App and it’s great fun! It makes the game so much more exciting!

That leaves a big gap in our macho diaries. It means we need to desperately find a sporting fix and we need to find it quick. These could be big one off events like MMA or boxing, or it could be through another sport entirely. What could be your sport to tide you over?

Baseball is the obvious choice – the season is currently on now and runs until the fall which crosses over almost perfectly with the return of the new NFL season. For some, ‘America’s Pastime’ can be a little boring, or slow. For others, it’s great fun. It’s the perfect chillout sport with moments of high excitement peppered throughout and comes across well on the radio.

If you want more action, look no further than Nascar. The Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series is taking place right now and will last via various events and races into the Fall. If you’re looking for a little more adrenaline, Nascar will have it. Of course, you can join this with Formula One racing to ensure your sports are covered across time zones. Both sports are heavily technical, with a huge focus on engineering and mechanics, but also are displays of amazing human ability.

Speaking of adrenaline, the National Hockey League is coming to its conclusion right now, so it is the perfect time for you to bandwagon with a team on the course to success. There might be nothing on this Earth more exciting than playoff hockey, so enjoy it and get in gear for the next season. Another traditional sport drawing to a close is Basketball, so enjoy the NBA playoffs while they last as there are just a few games to go. Playoffs are the best time to choose a team if you have no connection to one already. Of course, the Major League Soccer season is in full swing, and the English Premier League could be of interest for some people. One of my friends said they’ve started betting on the football for some extra money throughout the season. If you’re interested in taking a gamble, you could look at how to bet on premier league or even major league games. However, if you don’t enjoy gambling then just watching these other league games can provide entertainment until your preferred football league kicks off again! (source)

So even though football is over, there are plenty of sports for you to watch!
