Fitting In Your Food With Your Daily Workout

04/11/2016 by Adam

Do you love fitness? Do you love food? If your answer to both these questions is a resounding ‘Yes’, then this is the article for you. So read on with your cup of coffee and a piece of lemon drizzle or open it up on the move. The choice is all yours.

Do you eat before your morning workout? If so (and I hope you do), what do you eat? Cereal, scrambled egg or how about some scrummy blueberry pancakes? The key to a good wake up call is a nice, hearty breakfast and you also need this for your workout. Wash it all down with a fruit smoothie or a refreshing glass of water and it’s just the ticket. You mustn’t work out on an empty stomach as you won’t be able to feel the benefits.

When you do rock up at the gym in all your gear once you’ve had your hearty breakfast and let it suitably digest, don’t forget your trusty bottle of water to keep you forever hydrated and some food for when you’re willing to give yourselves a break. Make your food some light, fresh fruit or how about a snack bar? This will give you the optimum energy to keep going and reach your fitness goals for the day.

Once you’re satisfied you’ve done the best that you can on the gym equipment around you, like IndoorEllipticals, give yourself a well earned rest. You have most definitely deserved it! Consider walking home as a warm down. It will keep your blood being pumped around the body.

Start thinking about lunch. Make your dinner the big meal so again think of something light. A sandwich or a salad is perfect and will keep hunger locked up til later. Be inventive with your choice of ingredients. Mix and match. Above all though, try and use fresh food and bread. They are most important to a healthy and nutritious lifestyle and don’t contain any additives that you can find in tinned and packaged goods. Don’t just keep to the same old stuff each day though. Maybe think about doing a weekly food timetable. What to eat and when? This will keep your life organised and get you excited for the day ahead.

In summer especially, it’s great to get outside a lot of times during the day. Not only is it good for our skin and complexion but helps our sinuses and general health. So just after lunch would be the perfect time to go for another walk, maybe take the dog out if you have one. Don’t forget to bring a snack like a healthy granola bar though. Who knows how long you’ll be out for! It is summer after all.

Dinner should be a big affair in your family household. Make it hearty with lots of flavour. Slice and dice plenty of vegetables and make there’s a good dose of proteins and carbohydrates in there too. A chicken and vegetable risotto would be perfect for this situation. After dinner, take it easy and have an early night in preparation for another busy day.

Well done! You’ve definitely earned your rest!
