How Fitness Trackers like Fitbit Motivate Your Kids to Stay Active

In the fitness world, Fitbit is the new “it” thing. And why shouldn’t they be? After all, this gadget has turned mobility and fitness into a trend that everyone loves and wishes to attain. From all the different population segments, these trackers have positively influenced children the most. In the era where most children are hooked to screens and xbox’s, fitness trackers like Fitbit have introduced a whole different lifestyle that involves more physical activity and workout. My friend got a new Fitbit and she told me that you can upgrade your band on your Fitbit Versa if you wanted a new design.

In case you are wondering how these activity trackers have made it possible, then here are a few things that will help you understand exactly how these trackers motivate children to move:

1. A Healthy Competition

If there’s one thing that is instilled deep in the human nature, it is the sense of competition. Fitness trackers make use of this natural instinct by turning everyday activity into goals and competitions. Now because most fitness trackers, like the Fitbit for instance, have their own apps over which you can monitor the stats and activities, this gives one the opportunity to compare records, a thing children particularly love to follow. This, then quickly converts into a group activity among children and causes them to compete with one another, by being more physically active.

2. A Sense of Achievement

Be it small goals or the tougher ones, once your child gets the hang of it, they are sure to make even more progress. Accomplishing these small activity goals does not only help them physically, but it also makes them more focused and confident, all while giving them a chance to do more than just play games. Because children are more vulnerable to adopting irregular routine patterns, fitness trackers are also a good source for keeping them on the right track.

If you’re convinced to buy a Fitbit for your kid, here is a quick buying guide: http://kidsactivitytracker.com/fitbit/

3. A Personal Log of Activity

Even if you child is not fond of competitions, the over-all thrill of having a record of their own gets most children going. Advanced fitness trackers not only count the steps taken and calories burned, they also cover several other aspects like monitoring heart rates, sleeping hours, total time and more, which is attractive to not just children, but parents as well. Through this information, parents get the opportunity to set even better goals and routines for their children, just so that they can have more benefit out of all the activity. More or less, this personal activity log also gives children more information about themselves, along with a sense of self-gratification and independence.

4. The Bandwagon Factor

Children tend to copy each other and for the sake of this bandwagon, most children tend to come aboard. Another important thing for this sudden trend is the fact that activity trackers, especially the one targeted towards children, are purposely designed to be more funky and cool. Over the years, the outer appearance of such trackers has caused more and more children to try them on and once the tracker is on them, the race to be the most active begins.

5. Gives Children a Taste of the Old Times

Unlike the millennial’s childhood, modern times childhood involves many screens and less interaction. While group of children tend to have their own new set of digital games, the old, basic ones are long forgotten. Be it skipping rope, or cycling, most children don’t take much part in them, let alone interest just because they are not willing to try them. Because these fitness trackers give kids that push to move, it is one of the easiest way to introduce fun games into their lives so that they can play and enjoy more.

Fitness trackers are a good way to get your child moving, but nothing compares to providing them with an environment where everyone enjoys physical activity. Remember, children adopt what they see, not what you buy them.
