We should all exercise. In fact, it’s recommended that the average adult gets one hundred and fifty minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a week, or seventy five minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise a week. So, if you’re falling behind on this, you need to find a few ways to hit these targets and goals. This is extremely important. Exercising helps to keep your body in good condition, improving your overall health and wellbeing, giving you strength and even boosting your immune system and releasing feel-good chemicals. Now, so many people are put off exercise because they just don’t enjoy it. But if this is the case, you simply haven’t found the right type of exercise for you!
Running
Running is a hugely accessible type of exercise. Anyone can slip on a pair of Running shoes, head out of the door and go for a run. It’s great for cardiovascular health. It’s great for stamina. It’ll burn excess calories and it gives you an opportunity to spend a little time outdoors. If you don’t like spending time outside, you could always head to the gym to use a running machine. Here, you benefit from the same workout, but you’re not exposed to the elements. You can run at a stable temperature without having to face problems such as rain or the cold, or heat and the sun.
Swimming
Swimming is a great, all-round form of exercise that’s suitable for almost anyone. While most of us can swim, the majority of us seriously overestimate our swimming capabilities, guessing we’d manage to swim a lot further than we actually can. Now, swimming works out most areas of your body. It’s easy on your joints. The water creates resistance as you swim against it, so it’s good for your strength. Perhaps the best part? It’s a potentially life saving skill to have, so the more you work at it, the safer you’re likely to be should you find yourself in a situation where you need to swim. If you can’t swim at all, don’t worry – and don’t completely cut this form of exercise out as an option. There are a number of adult swimming classes out there that can help you to get to grips with the basics in no time!
A Sports Club
If you like a more social aspect to your sport, you might want to consider joining a sports club. This will see you work alongside a team while you work out. There are so many different types of clubs out there, ranging from football clubs to rugby clubs, dance clubs, hockey clubs, lacrosse clubs, martial arts club and clubs where you face a partner, such as fencing and more. No matter what you’re into, there will be something out there that will suit you down to a tee.
These are just a few examples of the different types of exercise you could try out. There are so many out there it’d be impossible to list them all in just one article, but hopefully the suggestions could get your venture started in the right direction.
