Exercise Tips: How To Stay Motivated When Nobody’s Watching

05/03/2018 by Adam

If you’re somebody who exercises alone, it can be easy to become unmotivated. With nobody there to spur you on, you may be tempted to give up for the day, preferring to spend an extra hour in bed or indulge yourself in a less healthy past time. If this is you, then you need some motivation tips and fast! Otherwise, you may get into the habit of not exercising, and you will feel much worse off because of it.

Check out these motivating tips and let them spur you on to better exercise habits.

Remember why you started exercising in the first place

Why did you start exercising? Was it for health reasons? Did you want to lose weight? Were you trying to look good for the ladies? Whatever the reason, think about why you started and the benefits of doing so, and write down the advantages that exercise brings you. Remind yourself of them every time you feel like giving up.

Look at yourself in the mirror

Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fittest of them all? It could be you, but then again it might not be, especially if you have gotten out of the routine of regular exercise. So, look at yourself in the mirror and decide if you are happy with what you see. If you are beginning to see signs of flab, ageing lines around your face, and a dwindling physique, get yourself back into shape until you get yourself a more flattering reflection.

Build a home gym

You don’t need to go to the gym or even set foot outdoors to exercise. If you purchase keep-fit equipment for your home, (here’s an awesome example), you will have less excuses to avoid a workout. You don’t have to break the bank, either. An exercise bike in your bedroom or a few weights for your garage may be all you need to fuel your workout plan. Set yourself a time each day and make it part of your regular schedule, and put on some rocking music to really get your adrenaline flowing and feel like exercising!

Put on your workout clothes

This may sound dumb, but sometimes our clothes can have an effect on our mindset. If you’re sitting around in your pyjamas all day, you aren’t going to feel like being active you’ll probably want to sleep like a donkey instead. Pyjamas are soft warm and comfy, they make you want to snuggle down. The tv remote will be the only thing you will end up lifting if you have this kind of mindset. Wearing active clothes meanwhile makes you want to get up and go. So slip on some fashionable workout clothes on the other hand, and you are going to have more incentive to get into your home gym, or go outside on a run, letting you look good while making you feel good. Result!

Set yourself challenges and goals

It’s difficult to stay motivated when you don’t set yourself goals, so have a plan in mind. You might push yourself to run for ten minutes one day and fifteen the next, with the ultimate goal being to lose a few pounds or to tone up your leg muscles. When you have accomplished one goal, keep setting yourself new targets to push yourself further. Then reward yourself for all your hard work, such as buying yourself something nice, or taking an extra day off to spend a little more time relaxing.

Finally

With nobody watching you, you can pretty much do what you want with your day. Still, follow our tips, and you should get the motivation you need to carry on with your regular workouts. Not only will your body and mind feel better because of it, but you will also have less need to put yourself on yet another guilt tip when you regret missing out on your daily exercise routine.
