It can feel difficult to achieve your best level of health and fitness in today’s world. We’re often busy, running from place to place, making time for others and trying to get by. When you think about throwing healthy eating and exercise into that mix, it can seem quite daunting.

But, by recognising the ways that everyday life affects our health and fitness, and being conscious of them, we can start to make a difference. Remember, it’s not just sports that can cause you discomfort! So, by being aware of what might not be that great for us, we can make an effort to change our habits and work our way to better levels of health and fitness overall.

Do you have a job that requires you to stand all day? Maybe you’re a doctor or a waitress and a large proportion of your time is spent standing or walking around. If that’s the case, you might experience swollen legs or feet, and even pain in your lower back. Sound familiar? It’s very likely – but the good news is, you can try and counteract the effects by wearing supportive shoes and trying to take regular rest breaks.

Poor Digestion

Eating on the go is a huge culprit for bad digestion. When you’re running from place to place and grab food in-between, you’re often rushing the eating process as much as you are rushing around. Eating too fast can make digestion hard. It can happen when you’re eating at your desk and distracted by work too. It also might mean that you’re overeating, as you’re not letting your body tell you when it’s full.

You may not work at a desk, but if you spend a significant part of your day sat down, you might start to suffer from posture problems. With the new age of technology, many of us find ourselves hunched over a mobile phone or a desk without realizing that this has a serious impact on our backs. While back pain used to be commonly tied with the elderly, it is now seen in almost every age group, with many kids and adolescents even suffering from back conditions like kyphosis. You can click here to learn more about this condition, but know that there are multiple different issues that impact the back and cause pain in multiple age groups. When you’re not conscious about how you’re sitting, you can slip or relax too much and cause health problems in the long run. If you are at a desk, it’s handy to use proper typing posture so that you can stay pain-free and help your health.

So this is likely to be one for the ladies, but if you wear heels a lot of the time, you can start to develop significant health problems.
