Cheap and Healthy Snacks for Busy Employees

26/11/2018 by Adam

Ever felt hungry in the middle of the afternoon but you feel guilty to eat a snack because of the heaps of work you still have to do? Most employees are too busy to go out to grab a bite, but nutritionists recommended setting aside time to eat snacks in between mealtimes. Here is where Snack Nation healthy snack delivery can help you continue working while waiting for the food.

Another time-saving option is to set aside a little time to prepare healthy snacks to take to the office. It’ll save you the hassle of going out. Here’s a list of healthy snacks you can prepare andtake on-the-go.

  • Sandwich

If you can’t find the time to head towards affordable places to eat, pack a small sandwich for snacks to give you enough energy to last until the next meal. Think about whole-grain bread and veggies with a slice of lean chicken or turkey. This snack is packed with healthy nutrients and contains less than 300 calories.

  • Peanut Butter and Apples

This snack is very much comparable to fruit and nuts except that peanut butter seems more fun to add to apple slices. Apples come in plenty of varieties but share one thing in common: fiber. To make this a healthy snack, choose peanut butter without added sugar.

  • Fruit and Yogurt

Think plain Greek yogurt and fresh fruits such as fresh berries. Avoid yogurt versions that come high in sugar. You can also try yogurt, honey, and pecans. This snack is loaded with protein and calcium and is good for the digestive system, thanks to the probiotics in the yogurt.

  • Cottage Cheese and Crispbread

Crispbreads come in multigrain and whole-wheat versions. Because they are tasty and crunchy, they make great snacks by themselves. To make it even healthier and satisfying, top it with low-fat cottage cheese, which comes with protein and calcium. Other toppings you can try are slices of lean meat, nut butter, and fruit preserves.

  • Crackers and Tuna

Stash some whole-wheat crackers and tuna for a quick and fulfilling yet healthy snack. Try adding celery slices for added flavor and nutrients. This snack comes with protein, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids that your heart needs. You can also prepare tuna salad at home and pack just enough for your crackers.

  • Rice Cakes

Because plain rice cakes are bland, it makes the perfect base for unlimited choices of toppings. Partnered with an egg salad sandwich filling, it makes it a great snack for busy people. Keep a stash of rice cakes in your drawer and grab a topping in the morning before you go. Consider cottage cheese with fresh veggies, avocado slices sprinkled with lime juice, or plain yogurt with berries.

  • Fruits and Nuts

Sometimes, the simplest snacks can offer the healthiest choice. Grab a handful of nuts and your favorite fruit before going out to work. You’ll be surprised that something this simple can provide you with a dose of healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

  • Carrots and Hummus

Hummus is high in protein and fiber because of its sesame oil and chickpea ingredients. Carrots are known for its healthy serving of potassium and vitamin A. This snack is indeed satisfying minus the guilt because a half cup of hummus contains around 200 calories plus 30 calories for eight pieces of baby carrots. You can also combine hummus with other veggies like broccoli or have it with pita bread.

  • Popcorn

This snack is healthy because it is high in fiber but low in calories if you avoid covering it with melted butter. You can keep some bags of microwave popcorn for a healthy and affordable snack. You can also add dashes of Tabasco sauce or sprinkle with Parmesan cheese to make popcorn more interesting.

  • Trail Mix

This is a combination of dried fruits, nuts, and maybe granola or cereal. You can make your own in the comfort of your kitchen or shop for different varieties. This is a kind of snack that you can stash in your desk drawer for days. Note, though, that trail mix contain a lot of energy, so if you are watching your calorie intake, divide a pack into individual portions so you don’t eat the whole bag at once.

Final Words

Getting your hands full at work doesn’t have to hinder you from eating healthy snacks. With some creativity, you can make a combination of healthy snacks you can take to the office. Keeping work aside while you enjoy your snacks can give you a short break from the hustle and bustle of the office – something your head may genuinely need.
