So I wanted to write this blog post to give you an update as to what’s been going on lately in my world due to the fact that I’ve hardly been on Twitter and not posted much via Instagram either.
Before you ask ‘oh my god Adam, is this the end?’ – well, no it’s not. I’ve basically been pretty ill since last Tuesday and even had to stay in hospital for 2 nights so I could be properly monitored.
The good news is that I’m now on the mend, although not 100% yet. It’s meant that my 10K and half-marathon training have had to take a backseat and it’s meant me pulling out of the Fulham 10K this Sunday morning. What’s even sadder is that I was personally asked to compete on Team Fitbit with a select few runners so the last thing I wanted to do was let them down.
I do still hope to run in the Liverpool Half Marathon next Sunday but the main goal will now be to complete the run instead of trying to set a new PB. We’ll see what happens.
Due to my illness I lost about 5 pounds in the space of 10 days which meant my body fat percentage actually reduced to 8.4% from 10.7% in 2 weeks. A small positive I suppose!
Before being sick everything was going pretty great. I was either strength training at the gym building muscle, or I was completing a distance run and gaining momentum before the upcoming races. I was also eating pretty healthy even for my standards and sharing lots of healthy posts with you guys.
I do just see this as a minor setback because the overall picture is still pretty great. I’ll restart training soon, regain the momentum thats been lost and come back even stronger.
I also wanted to tell you about my latest collaboration with Muscle Food who produced this amazing #MakeOneChange hamper that, when you place an order for it you get their ‘Make One Change’ recipe binder which includes many great recipes that are simple to prepare as well as being very lean and healthy.
In fact I was asked to contribute a recipe! Inside you’ll find my ‘Sticky Orange Chicken’ recipe as well as many other great ones from other food and fitness bloggers, as well as health experts.
It’s well worth getting as it offers you a meal template of how to reach your goals without having to pay for tons of ingredients just to produce something that’s tasty and nutritious.
I also like the fact that it’s a binder so you can easily remove a selected recipe that you want to follow that particular day without having to take the whole binder with you, plus there’s the option to add additional recipes to the same binder in the future!
So what’s coming up next?
Well aside from trying to get fully fit again, my Instagram has started to change in terms of what I’m posting. I’m focusing more on healthy meal examples that you can easily make yourself and fit into a healthy lifestyle.
I’ve also signed up for the Mersey Tunnel 10K on April 15th. This is the same event where I originally set my 10Km PB, so fingers crossed I can better that!
I’m also pleased to report that I now have a new ongoing collaboration with Fuel. I first discovered Fuel one day in Asda when one of their main guys, Jason, approached me and convinced me to try their wheat biscuits instead of their rivals! Since then they’ve expanded massively and now produce some of the tastiest nut butters out there.
Honestly, when you’re next in ASDA grab one of their squeezy nut butters, you will not be disappointed!
For now I’m going to sign-off and keep drinking plenty of fluids!
