Since I first began the blog, this week has probably been one of the most significant and important weeks for it. The week itself has flown by, with a few landmarks that I’ve finally accomplished. Before I go into more detail on them, I just want to say thank you to all of the blog’s followers, I appreciate every visit and every comment you guys make to the website, whether it’s for the recipes, the fitness aspects or both.
Last week’s busy weekend of dining (and drinking!) out, as well as managing to find room for all the free food samples from the Food & Drink Festival, meant that I wanted to go back to the ‘eat and drink clean’ routine. This doesn’t mean never drink alcohol or have chocolate ever again, it just means being more stringent and limit myself to say ‘2 squares from a chocolate bar’ per night or ‘the maximum of 1-2 glasses of wine on a Saturday evening’.
As well as sticking to this, I managed to use the Slendertone Abs belt for the last 5 days in a row, as well as making it to the gym 4 times this week. So my personal health routine has returned to normal again. This is an example that even the best of us have slides ocasionally, it’s just about recognising when they’ve occured and correcting things sooner rather than later.
In terms of the blog itself, I finally created and ordered the first contact cards for the website as I often get colleagues and friends asking for the site’s address or what my Twitter ID is, and I think I’ve ran out of ink (and probably patience!) from tearing off little sheets of paper to give to them. I ordered them on Tuesday via moo.com and they came on the Saturday, which I wasn’t expecting.
You may have noticed some adverts appearing on the website as well, which is due to my Google AdSense application succeeding. Some bloggers choose not to bother with advertising as it can distort the page’s overall design, but personally I think they do no harm and could even take you to a product that would be of great benefit to your personal lifestyle, so why not.
Finally I just wanted to reflect on my first 50 posts. The blog has only been running for 2 months and started from a blogging magazine I was reading whilst sitting on a sunbed in Cala D’or, Majorca. This gave me the foundation of what I could do, it was called ‘Blogging For Beginners’ written by Robin Houghton. I also owe a big thank you to Zoe Griffin (@livelikeavip) for writing her book on blogging, which helped me take the site above and beyond anything I thought I could achieve.
So once again, thank you for your support. I love being a part of the fitness community and the community obsessed with good food! There is so much more to come, this really is only the beginning.
