Benefits and Advantages of an Electric Bike

Smart commuting and better health guaranteed!

For months and months, we’ve been ordered to stay at home and keep our distance. Now, we’re slowly transitioning to going back outside. Luckily, there are electric bikes we can rely on. Cycling lets you hang out with people you miss but still at a safe distance. A perfect win-win in this pandemic.

But electric bikes do more than just that. Electric bikes also open you to a whole avenue of exciting possibilities. If you’re having a hard time thinking of such possibilities, then let’s paint a picture. First, let’s take a look at what life with an electric bike would be like from a transportation standpoint.

Transportation

Commuting with electric bikes is a good way of decongesting traffic. With the exception of carpools, a car typically carries only a single person – who is also the driver. This takes more space in the road, which worsens traffic. But once you replace a car with a bike, a huge portion of the road becomes free. So, just think of how much more space we can make and how much more traffic we can avoid just by switching to e-bikes.

Besides, riding an e-bike also lets you escape the inevitable traffic. With smaller frames compared to cars, you can ride through the sides of the road unbothered. And instead of honking your way out on the road, you can simply maneuver to empty spaces in the road.

Now, if you’re worried about tiring yourself with all that pedaling, just remember that e-bikes are different from traditional ones.

With their battery-powered motor, e-bikes provide cyclists with extra power and pedal assist. This technology allows you to go the distance without breaking a sweat. So, unlike traditional bikes, e-bikes won’t let you tire yourself until you reach your destination.

The best thing about e-bikes is that you can travel as you would in a car without any pollutant emissions. Talk about effortless sustainability!

Types of Electric Bikes Best for Commuting

Electric bikes are considered to be the future of transportation. Not only do they provide an efficient commute, but they’re also beneficial to the environment and one’s health. If you’re thinking of getting one soon, here are some of the best types of electric bikes for commute and recreation:

Electric Road Bikes – as you may know, road bikes are designed to be ridden on smooth paved roads. The same applies to electric road bikes. They feature skinny tires and lighter, more straightforward bike frames compared to regular ones. Although electric road bikes only work well on paved roads, they have a superb battery range that can reach up to 60 miles.

Step-Thru Electric Bikes – Ideal for touring the city and casual rides, a step-thru electric bike can also do the commute for you. Notable for its classic step-through frame and feminine look, step-thru electric bikes definitely never go out of style. Most of these electric bikes are designed with a basket in front and rear rack that make them more convenient for both short and long trips.

Folding Electric Bikes – If space is a problem, then these folding e-bikes will work perfectly for you. These e-bikes have a lightweight frame designed to fold into a compact form for easy transport and storage. Even though they are smaller than regular e-bikes, their power is enough to take you to and from your destination fast and with no sweat.

Health benefits

Moving on, riding electric bikes also creates new possibilities for your health and wellness.

First of all, cycling improves blood circulation. Improved circulation can thus translate to a healthier heart. By improving your circulation, you can also help strengthen your lungs. Regular cycling then translates to a healthier future, with fewer chances of acquiring cardiovascular illnesses.

As a cardiovascular exercise, cycling can also increase your heart rate. This can then lower blood pressure. So, riding e-bikes has both long-term and short-term effects.

Additionally, cycling allows you to exercise your leg muscles without putting too much stress on your joints. So, even if you have joint-related conditions and injuries, you can still stay active with the help of a bike. This help is amplified by the pedal-assist feature all electric bikes have.

Remember, health and wellness don’t just pertain to physical fitness. Health and wellness also include your mental health, which cycling can also help with.

You already know that cycling improves blood circulation. But did you know that this improved circulation also translates to an improved spread of happy hormones? Cycling brings endorphins, dopamine, and happy hormones to lighten your mood.

In addition to this, cycling can also give you a kind of peace you won’t find elsewhere. Without worrying about whether or not you can reach your destination, you can reclaim some quiet time for yourself while riding an e-bike.

Some people even swear by the de-stressing effects of biking. For these people, a short ride on their bikes can keep their worries and stress at bay. And who knows? If you give e-bike cycling a try, maybe it can be a coping mechanism of yours, too.

The bottom line is, cycling with electric bikes is more than the convenience of enjoying time with people while maintaining a safe distance. It’s more than just a way to reduce your carbon footprint.

The bigger picture shows that riding e-bikes is also a great solution to the transportation and health problems we’re facing today. So, now that you know what life can look like with electric bikes, the question is—would you like that to be your reality?
