About to Try Waxing for the Very First Time? Read These 6 Tips First

08/05/2020 by Adam

Body hair is an issue many women face daily. Fortunately, there are various ways to get rid of unwanted body hair, and the method is up to each person. Below is a closer look at waxing and six tips to keep in mind when thinking about waxing for the first time.

A Sugar Option

Sugar and water turned into a paste (sugaring) is an alternative hair removal technique because it provides less pulling on the skin than traditional waxing. Sugaring helps protect the skin from inflammation and irritation while removing the hair without causing much pain. The method will leave the skin moisturized so that it feels smooth for several days.

See a Professional

If you are waxing for the first time, it is best to see a professional. Go to a spa and learn about different waxing options, methods, and products to leave your skin hydrated and moisturized. Once you get more comfortable, you can then attempt to do it at home with products you have tried and are comfortable with.

Wait For the Hair to Grow

The hair on the body must be a minimum of a quarter-inch long before it can be removed by waxing. If the hair is shorter than that, the wax may be ineffective at removing it. However, if the hair is much longer than a quarter-inch, the heirs could get tangled into the wax and result in a painful experience.

Managing Your Pain

Every waxing method is associated with pain, but each person has different levels of pain tolerance. If you do not tolerate pain well, consider taking an Ibuprofen before you get waxed to help alleviate any swelling or discomfort during the wax. Before your appointment, exfoliate the area to remove any dead skin that could be blocking pores.

Timing

Skin is the most sensitive right before and during a period. Because of this, the best time to schedule a wax is a week after your period. If possible, choose a morning appointment because it is less likely that the skin has been irritated already by a visit to the gym or running errands.

What To Do After Waxing

Irritation and redness appear after waxing, and knowing what to do can ease a lot of pain. If red bumps occur, use a soothing gel or aloe vera to reduce the inflammation, as well as to eliminate the chances of ingrown hairs. Avoid exfoliating, sunbathing, and swimming for two days after your wax. The skin may look alright, but it is best to avoid anything that can irritate the area.

Waxing does get easier over time, so it is best to keep up your waxing schedule. You will get used to it, and the hair will come out easier. Not only that, but the hair will no longer be as coarse and thick. Find a spa you like and stick to a schedule when it comes to waxing the various areas of your body.

Hair removal using waxes and scrubs is a great alternative for many women worldwide. However, just like with everything else, it is essential to know your skin type and to choose the best method of hair removal. Consult a professional because they can give you advice on the various products they use and which ones will be better for your skin.
