I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone but already it’s October, how crazy is that? I feel like each year seems to get shorter and shorter. It’s New Year’s Eve one minute, then you blink and people are putting up their Christmas decorations! Time really is so important and we’ve got to make the most of it.
So before this year’s time does run out, I thought it would be a good idea to post a list of the ingredients that are at their very best in October. Not only will this help when it comes to buying what’s fresh, but usually what’s readily available is also a lot cheaper. For example, buying Strawberries in November usually costs a lot more than in July.
The list itself is not exclusive, there will be many other foods that I’ve probably forgot to mention but here are the main ones:
Fruit & Veg
– Apples
– Autumn Raspberries
– Blackberries
– Carrots
– Chestnuts
– Courgettes
– Figs
– Hazelnuts
– Marrows
– Pumpkins/Squash
– Shallots
– Spinach
– Walnuts
Fish & Seafood
– Brown Crab
– Hake
– Mackerel
– Mussels
– Scallops
– Sea Bass
