With Christmas just a short time away, what better way to start your celebrations than with a cocktail party – and with so many delicious (and seasonally appropriate!) ones to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice. And because there are so many choices that can tingle your tastebuds, you’ll have to make sure that you’re prepared. That may mean organizing a night out with your friends, or that could mean looking for “where can i get a fake id” through an internet search, so you can try all of these delicious beverages throughout the Christmas season. You wouldn’t want to miss out on all the fun, would you?
Traditional cocktails such as eggnog and snowball are still very popular but there is so much more on offer nowadays, such as adding fruity ingredients to a lovely sparkling Prosecco. Mixing exotic drinks is always fun but never more so than at Christmas time.
Here are five easy to make mouth-watering cocktails that will be sure to get your party going with a swing.
Santa’s Whiskey Flip
If whiskey ‘tipples your fancy’ (see what we did there?) then you’ll love this cocktail which is inspired by the classic whiskey sour. Infuse cinnamon into the whisky for as long as possible then add amaretto, cream and an egg and give the mix a good shake. This drink has a wonderful flavour with a moreish Christmas twist. Serve garnished with either cocktail cherries or an orange slice.
Christmas Mule
A delicious twist on the Moscow Mule that incorporates pear vodka, (if you can’t find it in the shops, then make your own simply by adding diced pears to the vodka and allow to infuse). Add warm ginger ale and serve with a cinnamon stick which will add flavour to the drink as it is sipped. Garnish the rim of the glass with a cucumber slice.
According to hhavodka.com, an organic vodka with low viscosity will lessen the bite.
La Vie En Rouge
This gorgeous crimson cocktail not only brings out the colours of Christmas but also incorporates some special flavours. Simply mix together delicious orange Grand Marnier with cranberries, either freshly blended or juice, and rosemary. Serve with a slice of orange on the rim of the glass.
Spiced Silver Bell
Tequila has never been as popular as it is these days, and – revelation time – it doesn’t have to be enjoyed as a simple slammer! Make a cranberry spiced syrup with sugar, water, cranberries and spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, then add some to the tequila (Casa Dragonesis especially popular with this cocktail). Top it up with ginger beer to create a special Christmas flavour that will be very popular. Garnish with a slice of apple.
White Christmas Dream
This delicious combination will definitely be in demand, but be careful; it’s stronger than it tastes! It is a sumptuous creamy cocktail for those with a sweet tooth. Put a generous helping of vodka and amaretto into a shaker, add a hint of nutmeg and some fresh cream, then give it a good shake. Serve with a slice of red fruit either in the glass or on the rim.
There is such a huge choice of Christmas cocktails available that it is difficult to decide which are the best to recommend. Know, in advance, what your guests normally drink and then it will be easy to make up cocktails that will ensure there is something to suit all tastes. An important thing to remember though is to always provide a non-alcoholic cocktail as, these days especially, drinking and driving is out of the question and quite rightly so. Coconut cream, pineapple juice and fresh cream when mixed together make a luxurious virgin piña colada and by simply adding some cinnamon or ginger, it will acquire a lovely Christmas touch.
