Fitness with Golf

21/12/2017 by Adam

Golf as a sport is catching up and several people seem to be warming up to it. There are many people are looking for simple guides like this one here as a way to understand the rules better. Unlike other sports, golf can be played by people in any age group. The game itself takes a while to warm up. The strokes and the swings are not easy to pick up on but with a few training and practice sessions, it’s easy to get into the flow of things. It will not be long before you begin to enjoy it. You may even take an interest in fantasy golf with FanDuel. While it may not seem like a perfect sport for exercise, considering the amount you need to walk for a game, it can contribute immensely to your fitness.

Physical Benefits: A single game ideally lasts 18 holes and if you choose to play the entire game, you could walk about 4 miles. This is considering that you do not opt to ride the golf cart. Additionally, carrying your golf kit and walking would add another level of difficulty to your workout. As the game progresses, so does your strength. However, you will have to up your level of preparedness by adding some exercises which will not only strengthen your overall flexibility but can focus on your strength and agility as well. I’d also recommend you take a look at some different posture exercise videos for golf as they will develop your posture overall and help you play better!

Diet: Golf is a game that can gradually grow on you. You can play the sport with a couple of friends who share the same passion for the game. Being part of a group allows you to follow a diet which will not only work to better your overall fitness but can cleanse and detoxify your system. Coming up with a plan that includes a balanced diet of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, while giving up caffeine and alcohol will ensure you perform at your peak.

Mental Benefits: Social interaction is a huge plus-point with the sport. Not only will you meet like-minded people while playing the sport but you tend to pick up on several moves and strokes which can improve your game to a huge extent. Sharing your game plan and your exercise routine with a golfing partner helps you to stick with such programs, thereby improving your chances of getting stronger and fitter. Working on different muscle groups to ensure that you are injury-free helps to prolong your interest and passion for the sport.

For some, golf is more than just a game and they include this game in every aspect of their lives. For such people, there are several blogs and websites such as at the tee which offers unique and innovative gifting options which range from mugs to statues. Giving your golf-loving friends and family, golf-related gifts really increases the “happiness quotient” contributing to their general confidence levels.

While golf as a game has really evolved over a period, the game retains its original charm and intrigue. It is perfectly possible to pursue golf as a passion or with an aim to compete professionally. Either way, you cannot ignore the fact that this sport requires you to be physically and mentally fit.
