I was doing my usual weekly shop in one of the larger Tesco stores in South Liverpool and came across a slightly different type of Mango fruit. Mango itself is so tasty when fully ripened so I thought I’d try out this version.
Since pretty much giving up crisps and really limiting the amount of chocolate I consume, it’s important for me to have a good variety when it comes to snacking. Trying out new food products including fruit and vegetables has really broadened my knowledge of ingredients anyway (not to mention enjoying the new flavours too!).
This version of the Mango was imported from Israel, a country I’ve spent a number of months living in and know the quality that goes into their agricultural landscape. Their oranges, for instance, are considered the best in the world by many. The taste is slightly more citrus than the typical mango but just as tasty.
The only downside of a mango is the peeling and chopping of it, however it is well-worth the effort and I challenge anyone to go through this process and not sneak a cheeky bite!
You’ll know when the mango is ripe and ready to eat when it’s very soft to the touch as well as be a deeper colour of yellow (once peeled) and in this case, a deeper colour of orange.
Right now they’re a £1 from Tesco and you’ll get at least two seperate snacks from them.
