I was recently asked by one of the representatives at ‘Dr Gaye’s Super Shake’ if I would be interested in testing out one of their 4 main products to see what exactly I thought and give a general and honest review of my findings. There was a choice between their Shake, Blend, Porridge (which I’ve never been enthusiastic about anyway!) and a ‘Spoonful’.
I decided to go for the ‘Super Blend’ as I figured this would fit nicely into my busy lifestyle. Aside from the recipes and dishes I already produce, it’s difficult to find additional preparation time for other products, therefore this would be a much quicker alternative.
The company delivered the item quickly to my address with no hassle at all. Whilst waiting for the product to be sent to me, I decided to check out a bit more information from the website. At first I was quite surprised at the price, ‘£24 for 400g’ (which was 40 servings) but then I realised just how much other products cost me, such as Protein which is double and only gives my body that.
I was informed that these superfood mixes contain an extremely high number of vitamins, minerals and micro-nutrients that completely cover your daily quota of what your body needs, as well as protein! Unlike multivitamins however, they are taken naturally from the raw foods which allow them to be easily absorbed into our bodies. Personally I thought this was an excellent way of ensuring my body got exactly what it needed.
My first impressions holding the product were a little confused in terms of the flavour. As consumers when we look at products we know we’ll be putting into our mouths we’re given information on the various flavours that are contained, however here there was nothing and, in all honesty, made me a little reluctant to want to try the blend.
The item was well packaged and looked the part in terms of quality. It reminded me of a protein mix due to the consistency, however once I opened the packaging I realised the blend wasn’t just a powder and that other very small seeds were present.
According to the website, the blend can be mixed in with anything from juice, milk, or even eaten directly as a spoonful. I decided to play it safe and mix in with some semi-skimmed milk. Although I didn’t feel it blended together all that well, it still went down smoothly. I would say it gave the milk a rather earthy flavour, which, after a few more blends I quickly got used to and started to enjoy.
As somebody who takes nutrition and giving my body what it needs very seriously, the blend was perfect. It allowed my body to get what it needed in a very convenient manner. Over the course of the 4 weeks I have had more energy to complete my daily activities and haven’t really complained about being tired, perhaps when others around me have. I would certainly recommend giving Dr Gaye’s Super Blend a try and if you are curious and want to know more, check out their website here.
