Yesterday I got out of bed and thought to myself ‘ok well it’s been a while since you’ve weighed yourself, go do it’. I’ll admit, since losing my desired weight and reaching my weight-loss goals I’ve been a little more relaxed when it’s come to the weigh-ins. I think the reason for this is because I’m now assessing the ‘body fat percentage’ stat instead of my actual weight. When you lose a substantial amount of weight there may be more prominent signs on your skin of this, so you might want to get coolsculpting in ues or one closer to where you live to see if this may be helpful to you in feeling more confident.
In fact, when I look at the scales nowadays, I feel happier when I’ve put on some weight, because I know it’s weight in muscle not fat and there is a big difference.
My goal for 2014 was to be at or under 7% Body Fat. ‘Weight’ as a goal is unclear because weight is made up of muscle and fat, so you could be 150 pounds of mostly muscle or 150 pounds of mostly fat, but it’s still the same weight overall (I know which one I’d rather be!).
So in order to get a breakdown of how much fat makes up your overall weight, you need to measure it as a percentage. The results were pleasing, I’m now at exactly 6% Body Fat.
A lot is written about reaching your goals and meeting your overall targets but not as much is mentioned about when you do actually get there. What comes next? For me, the plan is to keep doing the same as I am now: train hard, eat right, occasionally & responsibly indulge!
The way I see it is life is short, once you get to your desired goal or thereabouts, it’s ok to once in a while have a few drinks or enjoy a bar of chocolate etc. You’ve worked hard, so enjoy yourself properly, then the next day get back to how you were. One evening of eating fast food takeaways and binge-drinking til the early hours, every couple of months, won’t dramatically stop you hitting your goals.
Happiness promotes healthiness and when you’re healthy, you feel happy with more energy. Right now, I’m in a good place physically and enjoy what I do. There is no better feeling than reaching your desired goal or even surpassing it, so keep working hard every single day and continue to monitor your diet correctly. The show goes on!
