Going out? 5 ways to stay healthy at parties

03/06/2021 by Adam

Just because you are an avid member of the fitness community does not mean that you do not like to socialize and party with your friends. Parties are all fun and games until the huge amounts of food and drinks turn it into a regretful evening the next day. You can still party responsibly without doing too much damage to your diet and routine. It is okay to let go once in a while, as long as that is moderated and not extreme. Here is a list of great tips to follow so that you can party with your friends and not compromise your fitness goals!

Remember your priorities

There is a lot more to life than a strict diet and rigorous workout routine. But this does not mean that you should completely throw your goals out the window when you go out for a social gathering or to a party. It might be true that alcohol will help you feel warmer in a cold place such as DC, but prioritize your goals and remember what is m0ore important to you, short-term fun or long-term success. Envision how you would like your health to be and see if your actions match with your goals. You can still have a little bit of things here and there, as long as it is in moderation.

Have positive influences around you

If you are always pestered by certain friends to get wasted or to hit the bars every single night, you might want to refocus your energy and perspective. Friends can have a strong influence on your set health-focused goals, be it in a good way or a bad one. Why not surround yourself with people who will be more than just drinking buddies, bar hopping in DC, and support and encourage you to achieve your goals?

Try better alternatives

Instead of having gin and whiskey, which are higher in calories, have a glass of red wine while out with friends. This is also quite good for your heart if you have a glass in moderation. If you like getting stoned from time to time but are trying to quit smoking, try having edibles. A lot of people recommend Cannabis Syrup in DC since you can mix this with a mocktail or any beverage for a smooth high. This keeps your lungs safe and healthy while packing quite the punch. Always try for better alternatives so that you can stay true to your goals.

Eat healthy prior

It is very easy to lose track of your goals if you show up to a party or a gathering hungry. Instead, try eating a moderately filling and light meal a while before you leave your house. Feeling hungry at the party can lead to you attacking the first dish you see, be it healthy or not. This also paves the way to over-eating. Remember, small and spaced out meals are the key to success.

You do not need to cut out fun things from your life. Learn how to lead it in moderation so you do not stray from your goals.
