7 Things to Avoid On Your Journey to Atlanta

15/05/2019 by Adam

The enchanting municipality of Atlanta is filled with exceptional museums, civil rights history, the popular restaurants and the hub for tourism. The city takes pride in mesmeric neighborhoods and Southern warmth. You might be well aware of things to do in Atlanta, in this article we will list down the things that you need to avoid on your memorable journey.

1 Don’t Stay in Downtown for Very Long

Though staying in Downtown comes with many benefits, at the same time you may want to enjoy the tourist sights, the delicious breakfast in Grant Park and explore the culture of the city. You may want to interact with resident friendly animals such as turkeys and house cats while walking through the Atlanta zoo that will bring you a whole new experience. One popular choice is the Emory Conference Center Hotel which is situated nearby many hiking trails. You may also want to opt for an apartment rental option available on various online websites to have purely local experience.

2 Don’t think you can walk everywhere

Unluckily, Atlanta is not a city where you can walk around everywhere. There are certain neighborhoods that associates, such as Old Fourth Ward and Midtown. Though Uber and Lyft will be your best companions in the city. The public transportation facility is simply great depending on your destination, though you need to map out your destination prior to hopping on Marta.

3 Don’t Leave the Kids at Home

Nevertheless, Atlanta is a center for business travelers, it’s an incredible place to bring your kids along. Starting from the Downtown, you will find one of the world’s largest aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium. It offers you a giant viewing window from where you will find yourself surrounded by water and view the sea life. The Children’s Museum and Zoo of Atlanta are another two popular places where your kids will desperately want to go. To make your journey even more entertaining, don’t forget to visit the Center for Puppetry Arts. You will love to see interesting shows and puppet workshops, which are just unbelievable. Moreover, on a cozy day, you can take your kids to Centennial Olympic Park’s fountains that make for an excellent choice to cool off. All you need to bring is a bathing suit and towel because your kids will definitely get soaked.

4 Don’t Eat at National Chain Restaurants

You might be very fond of cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster or the delicious onion at Outback, but do you really want to have some things that are available in your own hometown. You probably won’t, neither we recommend you to do so. Atlanta has a unique dining scene that you must not miss out on. Check out interesting restaurants and eateries to captivate from the city’s cultural food.

5 Don’t Visit in August

Atlanta can be absolute tyrannical in the summers with peak temperatures and high humidity. From air-conditioned vehicle to temperature in the 80s, it will be quite challenging to walk around. However, spring comes early with somewhat moderate temperatures at the beginning of April. With a massive number of trees and shrubs, azaleas and dogwoods are particularly notable. Winters, too, is a great time of year to enjoy numerous activities in the city. Though everything shuts down as the snow outbreaks.

6 Missing Festivals and Events

Atlanta makes for an excellent choice especially when it comes to exciting parties and entertaining festivals such as the Decatur Arts Festival. If you are fond of live music, you may want to visit the Sweetwater 420 Fest celebrated on Earth Day. Also, don’t forget to visit the Atlanta Jazz Festival, which goes on for the entire May. Besides, you may want to take a look at the grand AJC Decatur Book Festival which fills the streets of Downtown with several bibliographies on Labor Day.

7 Don’t Make Fun of Accents

Last but not least, every city comes with a set of cultures and linguistic. If you are unable to understand what an Atlanta native is communicating, ask them politely. You should not try to imitate them since that may seem disrespectful to them. A better way is to learn the basic phrases and keep the dialect book along for ease of communication.
