6 Reasons Why Golf is Good for Your Health & Fitness

31/01/2019 by Adam

Most people often turn to high-intensity exercises, such as running or cycling, to improve their fitness levels. While they are an effective way to improve your health, the activities can be a little boring.

There are, however, ways to make exercise fun. All you need to do is find a healthy, active pastime, such as golf, which can make physical activity seem easy. All you have to do is find a good golf course near you. If you’re not sure what constitutes as a good golf course then they should have driving ranges with Ace Driving Range Netting for you to practice in, kind staff who are willing to help and a well-maintained course. If you’re interested, here are six reasons why golf is good for your health and fitness.

  1. Weight Loss

If you are hoping to shed excess weight or develop a leaner body, a few rounds of golf could help you to quickly reach your goal. While the occasional swing of a powerful club can help, it is all the walking in between that will help you to lose a considerable amount of weight.

According to a Berkeley Wellness study, an 18-hole round of golf could easily help you to achieve your recommended 10,000 steps per day and then some. While it is believed walking across a 9-holegolf course could burn approximately 391 calories per hour.

  1. Improved Sleep

If you are living with insomnia, golf could be an ideal solution. As you will experience your fair share of exercise when playing golf, your body will more than likely be tired after a game. As a result, you will fall asleep at a faster rate and will remain in a deeper sleep for a longperiod of time, as your body will crave rest.

  1. Lower Stress Levels

Golf can reportedly help to counteract stress. That is because physical activity can lead to the production of endorphins in the brain, which is a feel-good chemical that can boost your mood. So, whenever you feel stress building up inside your body, either head to the driving range to perfect your putt or swing or book some much-needed time on a golf course to master a high-quality club, such as a PXG 0341 x Gen2 Fairway Woods.

  1. Improved Vision

Golfers need to have excellent vision to spot a golf ball many yards away. As you will need to hone in on various small targets from a long distance, the sport can help to keep your eyesight in excellent condition. Plus, even before a player has made a swing, they will need to focus on their hand-eye coordination. This all adds up to increased eyesight, as well as an impeccable skill set when it comes to how you play golf. It would also help to have a look at wedge lofts and distances when trying to perfect your accuracy on the course – once you know how each wedge reacts as well as its capabilities, your game will automatically change and improve at the same time. Gold isn’t about being perfect, it’s about letting go and enjoying yourself while being out in nature and getting some exercise in – remember that!.

  1. Good Heart Health

Constant walking, carrying and swinging can each help to increase your heart rate, which will keep your blood pumping and flowing. Golf can, therefore, provide your heart with a fair bit of exercise, which can lower a person’s risk of heart disease, a stroke, andhigh cholesterol.

  1. Better Brain Health

An increase in your heart rate can boost blood flow to your brain, which can ultimately stimulate your nerve cell connections. As a result, this can prevent the development of a debilitating brain disorder, such as dementia. Plus, routinely tallying scores, devising new strategies and focusing on hand-eye coordination can boost brain activity.
