5 Tips For Perfecting Your Mexican Cuisine

13/02/2021 by Adam

Some of the most popular meals around the globe are rooted in Mexican cuisine. Dishes like tacos, mole, and tamales are just a few that you may recognize or enjoy yourself.

Most classic Mexican foods trace back to ancient civilizations that inhabited the land. The Aztec and Mayan tribes are some of the peoples we have to thank for the tasty dishes.

Dine-in and fast food Mexican restaurants are decent spots to grab the cuisine. But did you know that preparing Mexican food at home is an easy thing to do? You’ll find the food tastes more fresh and flavorful. It’s a healthier choice too.

To get you started, here are 5 tips for perfecting your Mexican cuisine at home.

1. Choose Fresh Ingredients

When making your own Mexican food, selecting fresh ingredients boosts your meals. Fine quality ingredients will enrich your dishes with extra flavor and authenticity.

Instead of dried, opt for fresh cilantro. It’s easy to find at most local supermarkets. Cilantro is an inviting topper for most dishes, but it’s commonly used in salsas too.

Fresh chili peppers will enhance your meal by adding a kick of spice. Most recipes call for various types of chilies, so get familiar with them in the produce department.

2. Choose Authentic Recipes

To prepare the best Mexican cuisine, you must use an authentic recipe! Authenticity ensures that you create the best-tasting food possible.

On the internet, you can find lots of authentic and delicious recipes. The Recipe Workbook is a great place to start. Your tastebuds will thank you!

3. Start From Scratch

Making your Mexican meals from scratch will give you the authentic and bold tastes you crave. It also adds a little love into each bite!

Instead of canned beans, choose to soak and cook your own. Dried beans may seem like more work, but they enhance the flavor by a lot.

If you’re feeling motivated, try making tortillas from scratch. Tortillas play a central role in most meals. The best way to enjoy them is when they are homemade.

4. Remember The Staple Foods

When preparing Mexican cuisine, you can’t forget some of the key foods. They will help complement the meal while providing extra yummy flavors.

Rice and beans are two of the most common sides of most dishes. They can add an authentic touch to your spread. Both can be prepared in a variety of ways, so you can always mix it up.

Some of the other staples of Mexican cuisine include lime, cotija cheese, and avocado. They can be incorporated into a cooked meal or used for extra flavor while eating.

5. Use Real Lard

It’s a fact: Mexican cuisine uses a lot of lard. It has to be real, high-quality animal lard too. Pork is one of the more popular kinds. Butchers or local Latin American markets may offer animal lard for cooking.

Many Mexican recipes call for this solid fat. It plays a vital role in the preparation of tamales. Some bean and tortilla recipes also require it.
