5 Tips for Coping with Anxiety through Mindfulness, Diet and Lifestyle

17/12/2018 by Adam

If you are suffering from anxiety, it can be hard to know where to start when it comes to helping you overcome certain obstacles and helping improve your mental health. With that in mind, here are five tips on how to cope with anxiety through mindfulness, diet, and lifestyle.

Picking the Right Foods

While there are not any diet changes that can cure your anxiety, taking simple measures on watching what you eat may be able to help. Try to eat foods that contain some protein to help keep you feeling fuller for longer while providing you with the energy you need to get through your day. Incorporating foods full of complex carbohydrates such as whole-grain cereals and oatmeal can help increase the amount of serotonin in the brain, leaving you feeling calmer and more relaxed. Make sure that you avoid foods that are simple carbohydrates such as sugary drinks and food. Also, ensure that you drink plenty of water each day to avoid dehydration as even mild levels of dehydration can affect your overall mood.

Alcohol and Caffeine

Although the initial effect of alcohol may be soothing and calming, when alcohol is fully absorbed and processed by your body, it can leave you feeling anxious and edgy. Drinking alcohol can also interfere with your sleeping pattern, leaving you feeling tired and run down. Limiting or cutting out alcohol altogether can only be a good thing, helping you stay on track. It is also best to try and avoid beverages full of caffeine as they too can leave you feeling anxious and nervous as well as disrupting your sleep. Making small but noticeable changes to your diet can help enormously and leave you feeling more relaxed and upbeat.

Exercise

Adding a regular exercise routine into your life can be incredibly beneficial and help reduce anxiety symptoms. A whole host of health benefits come alongside exercise such as boosting your mood, improving your sleep and reducing tension to leave you feeling relaxed and stress-free. Taking some time out of your day to do an exercise can give you the mindless distraction you need, helping you forget about any worries or fears that you may have. As you get used to doing regular exercise, you will begin to have more energy, helping improve your mood.

Mindfulness Practices

There are various mindfulness practices that you can incorporate into your day to day routine to help reduce anxiety symptoms. One of the best ways to help calm yourself down is to anchor yourself by sending your attention into the lower part of your body. Anchoring has proven to be incredibly beneficial for those who suffer from anxiety, helping take away any worries or stress as well as halting any panic attacks that may occur. There are also breathing techniques that can help reduce anxiety symptoms such as finger breathing.

CBD Oil

You may be wondering what is cbd and that’s understandable. CBD, also known as cannabidiol is found in marijuana plants. It is also a natural medicine, as it is said to help treat manage the symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic pain and much more. Early research has shown that products that are made with CBD may be able to help relieve anxiety. If you currently suffer with anxiety, it is important to remember that there are effective ways of managing these symptoms. For example, some people opt to check out sites like MagicVaporizers, as the use of medical marijuana can help create a calming experience and as there are various ways you can use it, it may be worth doing some research into it before committing to anything. CBD is a cannabinoid that is naturally found in hemp plants and marijuana. Using CBD oil such as pharmaceutical grade cbd oil may be able to reduce levels of stress, leaving you feeling more relaxed and calmer. You can buy CBD oil wholesale online making it easy to stock up on. Also, ensure that you speak with a doctor beforehand as they will be able to advise you on what steps to take to help reduce your anxiety symptoms. Check out products like pure ratios cbd and do some thorough research into their effects before you buy them.

As an anxiety sufferer, trying something new can be incredibly daunting. However, starting off slow and trying any of the tips listed may help you tremendously, helping reduce your anxiety and giving you a more positive outlook on life.
