4 Tips For Choosing Cookware For Glass Top Stoves

12/09/2020 by Adam

Do you notice that the foods you cook on your glass top stoves are not evenly cooking? It may be due to the pots and pans you are using. Old cookware, too, can also cause issues in cooking properly. Here are the most important tips you can follow while choosing the right cookware for glass top stoves. So, cooking on a shiny cooktop made of glass, not any cookware can do.

The cookware’s smooth surface can get scratched easily; therefore, it is ideal to choose the right material cookware. Stainless steel is said to be more popular. They are durable, hard-wear, and offer enough weight for stable cooking.

  1. Cookware Material

Aluminum heats fast and evenly. Some foods may make the pot dark while new anodized aluminum cookware pits and resist staining.  It can also be cleaned easily with warm and bubbly water.

Copper also heats up easily but discolor too. It may give a mark on glass and need polishing regularly.

Stainless steel is the ideal choice for even and slows cooking with a better result. However, they are easy to clean, durable, and resist stain.

Thick and flat surface Porcelain enamel works well on cooktops. The coating remains smooth and avoids causing scratches on the cooktop.

Cast iron retains heat properly and slowly. It cooks evenly ones the temperature reaches. Also, you can use cast iron in an oven.

Glass heat slowly and not recommended for glass stoves because it can cause a scratch.

Ceramic cookware is hardened and perform as non-stick cookware. It is dipped in a glaze to give stain resistance. Never heat ceramic at high heat and does not contain any chemicals.

  1. Shape and Space

Curved and warped bottom pans and pots are available on the market. They can cause uneven cooking because its bottom does not make good contact with entire heating. You can check for flat surface cookware from the bottom. This allows the stove built-in heat mechanism to efficiently transfer heat in the pan and prevent hot or cold spots from appearing in the contents.

It would help if you took care of the area where you are going to use your cookware. If there is no much space, they can opt for cookware that is multifunction and easy storage. For example, cookware with a cutout of 70cm can work on a 60cm cooktop.

  1. Weight, Lid, and Handles

Weight is also an important factor while considering cookware set for glass cooktop stove. It is simply because a glass surface is very fragile despite reinforcement woven in its chemical composition. Therefore, you should opt for a lightweight frying pan surfaces or can take the risk of causing a chip or crack on the glass over time.

Usually, the manual of the stove includes certified weight limits for the cooktop. You must follow these limitations; otherwise, it may damage the functionality of the unit. Also, you may void the warranty. While using lightweight cookware means those are made of stainless steel or aluminum keep under this limit.

Lids are an integral part of any cooking pan or pot. Because the circulation of the aroma, flavor, and oil depends on the lid, therefore, it is important to check the lid sits perfectly on a glass top cooking vessel, and it is sturdy. You can buy vented glass lids as it allows you to see the food while getting cooked.

Heavy handles can be too heavy for a container and can keep the food to cook on one side. A tilted pan can only make the food cook unevenly.

  1. Oven and Induction Friendly

Perfect cookware can also be used in the oven then check the temperature setting at which it can be used. Some of them have different cooking temperature adjustments and whether they are used without or with the lid. So always check the instruction manual before putting them in the oven.

Most of the cookware sets designed to use on glass stove cooktop are compatible with induction. It means each piece in the set is shaped and made of the right material to use on the induction cooktop.

Considering all the above factors, you can find a perfect set with all the essential necessary for cooking your favorite dishes. Best quality cookware gives you good and long-term use by serving healthy food.
