3 Serious Options for People Who Are Desperate to Lose Weight

02/01/2018 by Adam

Obesity is one of the things that people across the world deal with. Poor eating and lifestyle habits have seen people put on the pounds and take up larger body shapes. The ideal option for losing weight would be to hit the gym and work the excess fats out. Unfortunately, work and family commitments deny people the chance get active in the gym long enough for them to lose weight. Another problem with this option of weight loss is that you will gain the lost weight back if you stop exercising, and this way you don’t make any significant improvements. If you don’t have the time to hit the gym consistently or you lack the will to do it, here are three alternatives that you can opt for if you are desperate to lose weight.

1. Weight Loss Surgery

Weight loss surgery is one of the best ways for obese people to lose weight. There are three different weight loss surgeries that specialists like Dr. Naveen Ballem can offer if you can opt for this method to lose weight. The first procedure is known as the adjustable gastric band operation. With this procedure, your doctor will place a small band on the upper part of your stomach. This will make your stomach smaller and as such, you will get full a lot quicker. You will, therefore, eat less and this will go a long way to help you lose weight. The other procedure is known as the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass which involves the creation of a small pouch in your stomach. Your intestines will then be rerouted to this pouch and this will change the way you process food. The third procedure is known as Biliopancreatic Diversion (BPD). This procedure removes a huge chunk of your stomach and bypasses your intestines. This will reduce the amount of food the body absorbs, and this will help you lose weight. Take this weight loss surgery quiz to determine if this is the right weight loss option for you.

2. Prescription Medication

You can also use certain drugs if you need to lose weight. Some drugs have been approved by the FDA and individuals can use them for their weight loss agendas. Some of these drugs include Lorcaserin which suppresses appetite. This drug will make you feel less hungry and as such, you will eat less. Another drug is Orlistat which reduces the absorption of fat in the body by about 30%.

3. Diet Modification

This is another option that will help you lose weight as quickly as possible. Fats and sugars are the two biggest factors that cause obesity and if you want to lose weight you should avoid them as much as possible. You will have to take your tea without sugar and avoid carbs. You will have to stop frying your meals with fats and oils. You should instead steam or boil your food. The food will also retain more nutrients this way, and will help if you want to shed the extra pounds.

Losing weight isn’t easy, but there are options. Speak to a dietician for advice if required.
